महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-27, verse-105

इतिहासमिमं पुण्यं शृणुयाद्यः पठेत वा ।
गङ्गायाः स्तवसंयुक्तं स मुच्येत्सर्वकिल्बिषैः ॥१०५॥
105. itihāsamimaṁ puṇyaṁ śṛṇuyādyaḥ paṭheta vā ,
gaṅgāyāḥ stavasaṁyuktaṁ sa mucyetsarvakilbiṣaiḥ.
105. itihāsam imam puṇyam śṛṇuyāt yaḥ paṭhet vā
gaṅgāyāḥ stavasamyuktam sa mucyet sarvakilbiṣaiḥ
105. yaḥ itihāsam imam puṇyam gaṅgāyāḥ stavasamyuktam
śṛṇuyāt vā paṭhet sa sarvakilbiṣaiḥ mucyet
105. Whoever hears or reads this sacred narrative, which contains the praise of the Ganga, will be liberated from all transgressions.
