महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-27, verse-26

तपसा ब्रह्मचर्येण यज्ञैस्त्यागेन वा पुनः ।
गतिं तां न लभेज्जन्तुर्गङ्गां संसेव्य यां लभेत् ॥२६॥
26. tapasā brahmacaryeṇa yajñaistyāgena vā punaḥ ,
gatiṁ tāṁ na labhejjanturgaṅgāṁ saṁsevya yāṁ labhet.

26. A living being will not attain that destination which one achieves by devoutly serving the Ganga, even through austerity (tapas), celibacy (brahmacarya), Vedic rituals (yajña), or renunciation.
