आदौ जन्माङ्गतो विप्र रिष्टाऽरिष्टं विचारयेत् ।
ततस्तन्वादिभावानां जातकस्य फलं वदेत् ॥१॥
1. ādau janmāṅgato vipra riṣṭā'riṣṭaṃ vicārayet .

1. First, O Brahmin, one should examine the auspicious and inauspicious indications from the birth ascendant. Then, one should declare the effects for the native concerning the twelve houses (bhāva), starting with the first house (tanu bhāva).
चतुर्विंशतिवर्षाणि यावद् गच्छन्ति जन्मतः ।
जन्मारिष्टं तु तावत् स्यादायुर्दायुं न चिन्तयेत् ॥२॥
2. caturviṃśativarṣāṇi yāvad gacchanti janmataḥ .
janmāriṣṭaṃ tu tāvat syādāyurdāyuṃ na cintayet.

2. For the first twenty-four years from birth, the danger (ariṣṭa) associated with birth prevails. During this period, one should not consider the calculation of longevity (āyurdāya).
षष्ठाष्टरिष्फगश्चन्द्रः क्रूरौः खेटैश्च वीक्षितः ।
जातस्य मृत्युदः सद्यस्त्वष्टर्षैः शुभक्षितः ॥३॥
3. ṣaṣṭhāṣṭariṣphagaścandraḥ krūrauḥ kheṭaiśca vīkṣitaḥ .
jātasya mṛtyudaḥ sadyastvaṣṭarṣaiḥ śubhakṣitaḥ.

3. When the Moon is in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house and is aspected by malefic planets, it causes immediate death for the native. However, if it is aspected by auspicious planets, death occurs in the eighth year.
शशिवन्मृत्युदाः सौम्याश्चेद्वक्राः क्रूरवीक्षिताः ।
शिशोर्जातस्य मासेन लग्ने सौम्यविवर्जिते ॥४॥
4. śaśivanmṛtyudāḥ saumyāścedvakrāḥ krūravīkṣitāḥ .
śiśorjātasya māsena lagne saumyavivarjite.

4. If benefic planets become retrograde and are aspected by malefic planets, they cause death to the newborn infant within a month, just as the Moon does [under malefic influence], especially when the ascendant is devoid of benefics.
यस्य जन्मनि धीस्थाः स्युः सूर्यार्कीन्दुकुजाभधाः ।
तस्य त्वाशु जनित्री च भ्राता च निधनं व्रजेत् ॥५॥
5. yasya janmani dhīsthāḥ syuḥ sūryārkīndukujābhadhāḥ .
tasya tvāśu janitrī ca bhrātā ca nidhanaṃ vrajet.

5. If the Sun, Saturn, Moon, and Mars are situated in the 5th house at one's birth, then quickly both the mother and the brother of that native will meet their end (nidhana).
पापेक्षितो युतो भौमो लग्नगो न शुभेक्षितः ।
मृत्युदस्त्वष्टमस्थोऽपि सौरेणार्केण वा युतः ॥६॥
6. pāpekṣito yuto bhaumo lagnago na śubhekṣitaḥ .
mṛtyudastvaṣṭamastho'pi saureṇārkeṇa vā yutaḥ.
6. pāpekṣitaḥ yutaḥ bhaumaḥ lagnagaḥ na śubhekṣitaḥ
mṛtyudaḥ tu aṣṭamasthaḥ api saureṇa arkeṇa vā yutaḥ
6. If Mars is in the ascendant (lagna), and is either aspected by malefic planets or conjoined with them, and is not aspected by benefic planets, it causes death. Additionally, if Mars is in the 8th house and conjoined with Saturn or the Sun, it also causes death.
चन्द्रसूर्यग्रहे राहुश्चन्द्रसूर्ययुतो यदि ।
सौरिभौमेक्षितं लग्नं पक्षमेकं स जीवति ॥७॥
7. candrasūryagrahe rāhuścandrasūryayuto yadi .
sauribhaumekṣitaṃ lagnaṃ pakṣamekaṃ sa jīvati.
7. candra-sūrya-grahe rāhuḥ candra-sūrya-yutaḥ yadi
sauri-bhauma-īkṣitam lagnaṃ pakṣam ekam saḥ jīvati
7. If Rahu is involved in a lunar or solar eclipse and is conjoined with the Moon and Sun, and if the ascendant is aspected by Saturn and Mars, that person lives for only one fortnight.
कर्मस्थाने स्थितः सौरिः शत्रुस्थाने कलानिधिः ।
क्षितिजः सप्तमस्थाने सह मात्रा विपद्यते ॥८॥
8. karmasthāne sthitaḥ sauriḥ śatrusthāne kalānidhiḥ .
kṣitijaḥ saptamasthāne saha mātrā vipadyate.
8. karma-sthāne sthitaḥ sauriḥ śatru-sthāne kalā-nidhiḥ
kṣitijaḥ saptama-sthāne saha mātrā vipadyate
8. If Saturn is situated in the tenth house, the Moon in the sixth house, and Mars in the seventh house, then the person perishes along with their mother.
लग्ने भास्करपुत्रश्च निधने चन्द्रमा यदि ।
तृतीयस्थो यदा जीवः स याति यममन्दिरम् ॥९॥
9. lagne bhāskaraputraśca nidhane candramā yadi .
tṛtīyastho yadā jīvaḥ sa yāti yamamandiram.

9. If Saturn is in the ascendant and the Moon is in the eighth house, and if Jupiter is situated in the third house, then that person goes to the abode of Yama (lord of death).
होरायां नवमे सूर्यः सप्तमस्थः शनैश्चरः ।
एकादशे गुरुः सुक्रो मासमेकं स जीवति ॥१०॥
10. horāyāṃ navame sūryaḥ saptamasthaḥ śanaiścaraḥ .
ekādaśe guruḥ sukro māsamekaṃ sa jīvati.
10. horāyām navame sūryaḥ saptama-sthaḥ śanaiścaraḥ
ekādaśe guruḥ śukraḥ māsam ekam saḥ jīvati
10. If the Sun is in the ninth house (from the ascendant), Saturn is situated in the seventh house, and Jupiter and Venus are in the eleventh house, then that person lives for only one month.
व्यये सर्वे ग्रहा नेष्टाः सूर्येशुक्रेन्दुराहवः ।
विशेषान्नाशकर्तारो दृष्ट्या वा भङ्गकारिणः ॥११॥
11. vyaye sarve grahā neṣṭāḥ sūryeśukrendurāhavaḥ .
viśeṣānnāśakartāro dṛṣṭyā vā bhaṅgakāriṇaḥ.
11. vyaye sarve grahāḥ na iṣṭāḥ sūryaśukrendurāhavaḥ
viśeṣāt nāśa-kartāraḥ dṛṣṭyā vā bhaṅga-kāriṇaḥ
11. All planets in the twelfth house are inauspicious. Especially the Sun, Venus, Moon, and Rahu cause destruction, or cause misfortune through their aspect.
पापान्वितः शशी धर्मे द्यूनलग्नगतो यदि ।
शुभैरवेक्षितयुतस्तदा मृत्युप्रदः शिशोः ॥१२॥
12. pāpānvitaḥ śaśī dharme dyūnalagnagato yadi .
śubhairavekṣitayutastadā mṛtyupradaḥ śiśoḥ.
12. pāpa-anvitaḥ śaśī dharme dyūna-lagna-gataḥ yadi
śubhaiḥ avekṣita-yutaḥ tadā mṛtyu-pradaḥ śiśoḥ
12. If the Moon, afflicted by malefic planets, is located in the house of natural law (dharma) (9th house), the 7th house, or the ascendant (Lagna), and is also aspected or conjoined by benefic planets, then it causes the death of the child.
सन्ध्यायां चन्द्रहोरायां गण्डान्ते निधनाय वै ।
प्रत्येकं चन्द्रपापैश्च केन्द्रगैः स्याद्विनाशनम् ॥१३॥
13. sandhyāyāṃ candrahorāyāṃ gaṇḍānte nidhanāya vai .
pratyekaṃ candrapāpaiśca kendragaiḥ syādvināśanam.
13. sandhyāyām candra-horāyām gaṇḍānte nidhanāya vai
pratyekam candra-pāpaiḥ ca kendra-gaiḥ syāt vināśanam
13. Death certainly occurs if a birth takes place during twilight, in the hora of the Moon, or in a gaṇḍānta. Furthermore, if the Moon and malefic planets are both located in angular houses (kendras), it also leads to destruction.
रवेस्तु मण्डलार्द्धास्तात् सायं संध्या त्रिनाडिका ।
तथैवार्द्धोदयात् पूर्वं प्रातः संध्या त्रिनाडिका ॥१४॥
14. ravestu maṇḍalārddhāstāt sāyaṃ saṃdhyā trināḍikā .
tathaivārddhodayāt pūrvaṃ prātaḥ saṃdhyā trināḍikā.
14. raveḥ tu maṇḍala-ardha-astāt sāyam sandhyā tri-nāḍikā
tathā eva ardha-udayāt pūrvam prātaḥ sandhyā tri-nāḍikā
14. The evening twilight (sandhyā) lasts for three nāḍikās (approximately 72 minutes), commencing from when half of the Sun's disk has set. Similarly, the morning twilight (sandhyā) also lasts for three nāḍikās, concluding when half of the Sun's disk has risen.
चक्रपूर्वापरार्द्धेषु क्रूरसौम्येषु कीटभे ।
लग्नगे निधनं याति नाऽत्र कार्या विचारणा ॥१५॥
15. cakrapūrvāparārddheṣu krūrasaumyeṣu kīṭabhe .
lagnage nidhanaṃ yāti nā'tra kāryā vicāraṇā.
15. cakra-pūrva-apara-ardheṣu krūra-saumyeṣu kīṭa-bhe
lagna-ge nidhanam yāti na atra kāryā vicāraṇā
15. If the ascendant (Lagna) is in a Scorpio sign, and malefic and benefic planets are positioned in the eastern and western halves of the zodiacal chart, then death occurs; no further deliberation is necessary in this matter.
व्ययशत्रुगतैः क्रूरैर्मृत्युद्रव्यगतैरपि ।
पापमध्यगते लग्ने सत्यमेव मृतिं वदेत् ॥१६॥
16. vyayaśatrugataiḥ krūrairmṛtyudravyagatairapi .
pāpamadhyagate lagne satyameva mṛtiṃ vadet.
16. vyaya-śatru-gataiḥ krūraiḥ mṛtyu-dravya-gataiḥ
api pāpa-madhya-gate lagne satyam eva mṛtim vadet
16. If malefic planets are located in the 12th house (house of loss), the 6th house (house of enemies), the 8th house (house of death), and also the 2nd house (house of wealth), and furthermore, if the ascendant (Lagna) is situated between malefic planets, one should certainly declare death.
लग्नसप्तमगौ पापौ चन्द्रोऽपि क्रूरसंयुतः ।
यदा नावेक्षितः सौम्यैः शीघ्रान्मृत्युर्भवेत्तदा ॥१७॥
17. lagnasaptamagau pāpau candro'pi krūrasaṃyutaḥ .
yadā nāvekṣitaḥ saumyaiḥ śīghrānmṛtyurbhavettadā.
17. lagna-saptamagau pāpau candraḥ api krūrasaṃyutaḥ yadā
na avekṣitaḥ saumyaiḥ śīghrāt mṛtyuḥ bhavet tadā
17. If malefic planets are situated in the first (lagna) and seventh houses, and the Moon is also conjoined with malefic planets, and these are not aspected by benefic planets, then death (mṛtyu) occurs quickly.
क्षीणे शशिनि लग्नस्थे पापैः केन्द्राष्टसंस्थितैः ।
यो जातो मृत्युमाप्नोति स विप्रेश न संशयः ॥१८॥
18. kṣīṇe śaśini lagnasthe pāpaiḥ kendrāṣṭasaṃsthitaiḥ .
yo jāto mṛtyumāpnoti sa vipreśa na saṃśayaḥ.
18. kṣīṇe śaśini lagna-sthe pāpaiḥ kendrāṣṭasaṃsthitaiḥ
yaḥ jātaḥ mṛtyum āpnoti sa vipreśa na saṃśayaḥ
18. O best of Brahmins, if a person is born when the Moon is waning and located in the first house (lagna), and malefic planets are situated in the quadrant (kendra) and eighth houses, that person undoubtedly attains death (mṛtyu).
पापयोर्मध्यगश्चन्द्रो लग्नाष्टान्तिमसप्तमः ।
अचिरान्मृत्युमाप्नोति यो जातः स शिशुस्तदा ॥१९॥
19. pāpayormadhyagaścandro lagnāṣṭāntimasaptamaḥ .
acirānmṛtyumāpnoti yo jātaḥ sa śiśustadā.
19. pāpayoḥ madhyagaḥ candraḥ lagna-aṣṭa-antima-saptamaḥ
acirāt mṛtyum āpnoti yaḥ jātaḥ sa śiśuḥ tadā
19. If the Moon is situated between two malefic planets and is also located in the first (lagna), eighth, twelfth (antima), or seventh house, then the infant who is born under such conditions quickly attains death (mṛtyu).
पापद्वयमध्यगते चन्द्रे लग्नसमाश्रिते ।
सप्ताष्टमेन पापेन मात्रा सह मृतः शिशुः ॥२०॥
20. pāpadvayamadhyagate candre lagnasamāśrite .
saptāṣṭamena pāpena mātrā saha mṛtaḥ śiśuḥ.
20. pāpadvayamadhyagate candre lagna-samāśrite
sapta-aṣṭamena pāpena mātrā saha mṛtaḥ śiśuḥ
20. When the Moon is situated between two malefic planets and also located in the first house (lagna), and if there is a malefic planet in the seventh or eighth house, then the infant dies along with the mother.
शनैश्चरार्कभौमेषु रिष्फधर्माष्टमेषु च ।
शभैरवीक्ष्यमाणेषु यो जातो निधनंगतः ॥२१॥
21. śanaiścarārkabhaumeṣu riṣphadharmāṣṭameṣu ca .
śabhairavīkṣyamāṇeṣu yo jāto nidhanaṃgataḥ.
21. śanaiścara-arka-bhaumeṣu riṣpha-dharma-aṣṭameṣu
ca śubhaiḥ avīkṣyamāṇeṣu yaḥ jātaḥ nidhanam gataḥ
21. If Saturn, the Sun, and Mars are situated in the twelfth (riṣpha), ninth (dharma), and eighth houses respectively, and are unaspected by benefic planets, then the one who is born under such circumstances attains death (nidhana).
यद्द्रेष्काणे च यामित्रे यस्य स्याद्दारुणो ग्रहः ।
क्षीणचन्द्रो विलग्नस्थः सद्यो हरति जीवतम् ॥२२॥
22. yaddreṣkāṇe ca yāmitre yasya syāddāruṇo grahaḥ .
kṣīṇacandro vilagnasthaḥ sadyo harati jīvatam.
22. yat dreṣkāṇe ca yāmitre yasya syāt dāruṇaḥ grahaḥ
kṣīṇacandraḥ vilagnasthaḥ sadyaḥ harati jīvatam
22. If a malefic planet is situated in the dreṣkāṇa and also in the seventh house, and a debilitated (waning) Moon is in the ascendant, it immediately takes away the life of that person.
आपोक्लिमस्थिताः सर्वे ग्रहा बलविवर्जिताः ।
षण्मासं व द्विमासं व तस्यायुः समुदाहृतम् ॥२३॥
23. āpoklimasthitāḥ sarve grahā balavivarjitāḥ .
ṣaṇmāsaṃ va dvimāsaṃ va tasyāyuḥ samudāhṛtam.
23. āpoklimasthitāḥ sarve grahāḥ balavivarjitāḥ
ṣaṇmāsam va dvimāsam va tasya āyuḥ samudāhṛtam
23. If all planets are situated in apoklima houses (3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th) and are devoid of strength, then the person's lifespan is declared to be either six months or two months.
त्रिभिः पापग्रहैः सूतौ चन्द्रमा यदि दृश्यते ।
मातृनाशो भवेत्तस्य शुभर्दृष्टे शुभं वदेत्/ ॥२४॥
24. tribhiḥ pāpagrahaiḥ sūtau candramā yadi dṛśyate .
mātṛnāśo bhavettasya śubhardṛṣṭe śubhaṃ vadet/.
24. tribhiḥ pāpagrahaiḥ sūtau candramāḥ yadi dṛśyate
mātṛnāśaḥ bhavet tasya śubhaiḥ dṛṣṭe śubham vadet
24. If, at the time of birth, the Moon is aspected by three malefic planets, then there will be a loss of the mother for that native. However, if the Moon is aspected by benefic planets, one should predict auspicious results.
धने राहुर्बुधः शुक्रः सौरिः सूर्यो यदा स्थितः ।
तस्य मातुर्भवेन्मृत्युर्मृते पितरि जायते ॥२५॥
25. dhane rāhurbudhaḥ śukraḥ sauriḥ sūryo yadā sthitaḥ .
tasya māturbhavenmṛtyurmṛte pitari jāyate.
25. dhane rāhuḥ budhaḥ śukraḥ sauriḥ sūryaḥ yadā
sthitaḥ tasya mātuḥ bhavet mṛtyuḥ mṛte pitari jāyate
25. If Rāhu, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and the Sun are situated in the second house, then the native's mother will die after his father's demise.
पापात्सप्तमरन्ध्रस्थे चन्द्रे पापसमन्विते ।
बलिभिः पापकैर्दृष्टे जातो भवति मातृहा ॥२६॥
26. pāpātsaptamarandhrasthe candre pāpasamanvite .
balibhiḥ pāpakairdṛṣṭe jāto bhavati mātṛhā.
26. pāpāt saptamarandhrasthe candre pāpasamanvite
balibhiḥ pāpakaiḥ dṛṣṭe jātaḥ bhavati mātṛhā
26. When the Moon is situated in the seventh or eighth house from a malefic planet, and is conjoined with a malefic, and is aspected by powerful malefic planets, the native becomes a matricide (killer of his mother).
उच्चस्थो वाऽथ नीचस्थः सप्तमस्थो यदारविः ।
पानहीनो भवेद्बाल अजाक्षीरेण जीवति ॥२७॥
27. uccastho vā'tha nīcasthaḥ saptamastho yadāraviḥ .
pānahīno bhavedbāla ajākṣīreṇa jīvati.
27. uccasthaḥ vā atha nīcasthaḥ saptamasthaḥ yadā
raviḥ pānahīnaḥ bhavet bālaḥ ajākṣīreṇa jīvati
27. When the Sun is either exalted, debilitated, or situated in the seventh house, the child will be deprived of milk and will survive by drinking goat's milk.
चन्द्राच्चतुर्थगः पापो रिपुक्षेत्रे यदा भवेत् ।
तदा मातृवधं कुर्यात् केन्द्रे यदि शुभो न चेत् ॥२८॥
28. candrāccaturthagaḥ pāpo ripukṣetre yadā bhavet .
tadā mātṛvadhaṃ kuryāt kendre yadi śubho na cet.
28. candrāt caturthagaḥ pāpaḥ ripukṣetre yadā bhavet
tadā mātṛvadhaṃ kuryāt kendre yadi śubhaḥ na cet
28. When a malefic planet is situated in the fourth house from the Moon and is in an enemy's sign, then it causes the death of the mother, particularly if there is no benefic planet in a kendra house.
द्वादशे रिपुभावे च यदा पापग्रहो भवेत् ।
तदा मातुर्भयं विद्याच्चतुर्थे दशमे पितुः ॥२९॥
29. dvādaśe ripubhāve ca yadā pāpagraho bhavet .
tadā māturbhayaṃ vidyāccaturthe daśame pituḥ.
29. dvādaśe ripubhāve ca yadā pāpagrahaḥ bhavet
tadā māturbhayaṃ vidyāt caturthe daśame pituḥ
29. When a malefic planet is situated in the twelfth house and also in the sixth house (ripubhāva), then one should understand that there is danger to the mother. If it is in the fourth or tenth house, it indicates danger to the father.
लग्ने क्रूरो व्यये क्रूरो धने सौम्यस्तथैव च ।
सप्तमे भवने क्रूरः परिवारक्षयंकरः ॥३०॥
30. lagne krūro vyaye krūro dhane saumyastathaiva ca .
saptame bhavane krūraḥ parivārakṣayaṃkaraḥ.
30. lagne krūraḥ vyaye krūraḥ dhane saumyaḥ tathā
eva ca saptame bhavane krūraḥ parivārakṣayaṃkaraḥ
30. If a malefic planet is in the ascendant (lagna), another malefic planet is in the twelfth house (vyaya), a benefic planet is in the second house (dhana), and similarly a malefic planet is in the seventh house, then this configuration leads to the destruction of the family.
लग्नस्थे च गुरौ सौरौ धने राहौ तृतीयगे ।
इति चेञ्जन्मकाले स्यान्माता तस्य न जीवति ॥३१॥
31. lagnasthe ca gurau saurau dhane rāhau tṛtīyage .
iti ceñjanmakāle syānmātā tasya na jīvati.

iti cet janmakāle syāt mātā tasya na jīvati
31. If, at the time of birth (janmakāla), Jupiter and Saturn are both in the ascendant (lagna), Rahu is in the second house (dhana), and a planet is in the third house, then his mother does not live.
क्षीणचन्द्रात्त्रिकोणस्थैः पापैः सौम्यविवर्जितैः ।
माता परित्यजेद्बलं षण्मासाच्च न संशयः ॥३२॥
32. kṣīṇacandrāttrikoṇasthaiḥ pāpaiḥ saumyavivarjitaiḥ .
mātā parityajedbalaṃ ṣaṇmāsācca na saṃśayaḥ.
32. kṣīṇacandrāt trikoṇasthāiḥ pāpaiḥ saumyavivarjitāiḥ
mātā parityajet bālam ṣaṇmāsāt ca na saṃśayaḥ
32. If malefic planets, devoid of any benefic influence, are situated in trinal houses from a weak Moon, the mother will undoubtedly abandon the child within six months.
एकांशकस्थौ मन्दारौ यत्र कुत्रस्थितौ यदा ।
शशिकेन्द्रगतौ तौ वा द्विमातृभ्यां न जीवति ॥३३॥
33. ekāṃśakasthau mandārau yatra kutrasthitau yadā .
śaśikendragatau tau vā dvimātṛbhyāṃ na jīvati.
33. ekāṃśakasthāu mandārāu yatra kutrasthitāu yadā
śaśikendragatāu tāu vā dvimātṛbhyām na jīvati
33. If Saturn and Mars are situated in the same Navamsha, wherever they may be placed in the main chart, or if both of them are in an angular house (Kendra) from the Moon, the native born of two mothers will not survive.
लग्ने सन्दो मदे भौमः षष्ठस्थाने च चन्द्रमाः ।
इति चेज्जन्मकाले स्यात् पिता तस्य न जीवति ॥३४॥
34. lagne sando made bhaumaḥ ṣaṣṭhasthāne ca candramāḥ .
iti cejjanmakāle syāt pitā tasya na jīvati.
34. lagne sandaḥ made bhaumaḥ ṣaṣṭhasthāne ca candramāḥ
iti cet janmakāle syāt pitā tasya na jīvati
34. If, at the time of birth, Saturn is in the Ascendant, Mars is in the seventh house, and the Moon is in the sixth house, then the father of that native will not survive.
लग्ने जीवो धने मन्दरविभौमबुधास्तथा ।
विवाहसमये तस्य बालस्य म्रियते पिता ॥३५॥
35. lagne jīvo dhane mandaravibhaumabudhāstathā .
vivāhasamaye tasya bālasya mriyate pitā.

35. If Jupiter is in the Ascendant, and Saturn, the Sun, Mars, and Mercury are in the second house, then the father of that child will die at the time of the child's marriage.
सूर्यः पापेन संयुक्तो ह्यथवा पापमध्यगः ।
सूर्यात् सप्तमगः पापस्तदा पितृवधो भवेत् ॥३६॥
36. sūryaḥ pāpena saṃyukto hyathavā pāpamadhyagaḥ .
sūryāt saptamagaḥ pāpastadā pitṛvadho bhavet.

36. If the Sun is conjoined with a malefic planet, or situated between two malefic planets, or if a malefic planet is in the seventh house from the Sun, then the father will die.
सप्तमे भवने सूर्यः कर्मस्थो भूमनन्दनः ।
राहुर्व्यये च युस्यैव पिता कष्टेन जीवति ॥३७॥
37. saptame bhavane sūryaḥ karmastho bhūmanandanaḥ .
rāhurvyaye ca yusyaiva pitā kaṣṭena jīvati.

rāhuḥ vyaye ca yasya eva pitā kaṣṭena jīvati
37. If the Sun is in the seventh house, Mars (bhūmanandana) is situated in the tenth house (karma), and Rāhu is in the twelfth house (vyaya), then that person's father lives a life of difficulty.
दशमस्थो यदा भौमः शत्रुक्षेत्रसमास्रितः ।
म्रियते तस्य जातस्य पिता शीघ्रं न संशयः ॥३८॥
38. daśamastho yadā bhaumaḥ śatrukṣetrasamāsritaḥ .
mriyate tasya jātasya pitā śīghraṃ na saṃśayaḥ.

38. If Mars (bhauma) is in the tenth house and situated in an enemy's sign, then the father of that person dies quickly, without a doubt.
रिपुस्थाने यदा चन्द्रो लग्नस्थाने शनैश्चरः ।
कुजश्च सप्तमे स्थाने पिता तस्य न जीवति ॥३९॥
39. ripusthāne yadā candro lagnasthāne śanaiścaraḥ .

39. If the Moon is in the sixth house (ripusthāna), Saturn (śanaiścara) is in the ascendant (lagna), and Mars (kuja) is in the seventh house, then his father does not survive.
भौमांशकस्थिते भानौ शनिना च निरीक्षिते ।
प्राग्जन्मनो निवृत्तिः स्यान्मृत्युर्वाऽपि शिशोः पितुः ॥४०॥
40. bhaumāṃśakasthite bhānau śaninā ca nirīkṣite .
prāgjanmano nivṛttiḥ syānmṛtyurvā'pi śiśoḥ pituḥ.

40. If the Sun (bhānu) is situated in a *bhauṃśaka* (a division of Mars) and is also aspected by Saturn (śani), then there would be a cessation of the effects of previous births or the death of the child's father.
चतुर्थे दशमे पापौ द्वादशे च यदा स्थितौ ।
पितरं मातरं हत्वा देशाद्देशान्तरं व्रजेत् ॥४१॥
41. caturthe daśame pāpau dvādaśe ca yadā sthitau .
pitaraṃ mātaraṃ hatvā deśāddeśāntaraṃ vrajet.

41. If malefic planets are situated in the fourth, tenth, and twelfth houses, a person, having killed their father and mother, will wander from one country to another.
राहुजीवौ रिपुक्षेत्रे लग्ने वाऽथ चतुर्थके ।
त्रयोविंशतिमे वर्षे पुत्रस्तातं न पश्यति ॥४२॥
42. rāhujīvau ripukṣetre lagne vā'tha caturthake .
trayoviṃśatime varṣe putrastātaṃ na paśyati.

42. If Rāhu and Jupiter are located in the sixth house (the house of enemies), or in the first house (ascendant), or in the fourth house, then in the twenty-third year, the son will not see his father (indicating the father's passing or separation).
भानुः पिता च जन्तूनां चन्द्रो माता तथैव च ।
पापदृष्टियुतो भानुः पापमध्यगतोऽपि वा ॥४३॥
43. bhānuḥ pitā ca jantūnāṃ candro mātā tathaiva ca .
pāpadṛṣṭiyuto bhānuḥ pāpamadhyagato'pi vā.
43. bhānuḥ pitā ca jantūnām candraḥ mātā tathā eva
ca pāpadṛṣṭiyutaḥ bhānuḥ pāpamadhyagataḥ api vā
43. The Sun (Bhānu) is the father of all beings, and the Moon (Candra) is similarly the mother. If the Sun (Bhānu) is aspected by malefics, or is situated between malefic planets...
पित्ररिष्टं विजानीयाच्छिशोर्जातस्य निश्चितम् ।
भानोः षष्ठष्टमर्क्षस्थैः पापैः सौम्यविवर्जितैः ।
सुखभावगतैर्वाऽपि पित्ररिष्टं विनिर्दिशेत् ॥४४॥
44. pitrariṣṭaṃ vijānīyācchiśorjātasya niścitam .
bhānoḥ ṣaṣṭhaṣṭamarkṣasthaiḥ pāpaiḥ saumyavivarjitaiḥ .
sukhabhāvagatairvā'pi pitrariṣṭaṃ vinirdiśet.
44. pitrariṣṭam vijānīyāt śiśoḥ jātasya
niścitam bhānoḥ ṣaṣṭhāṣṭamarkṣasthaiḥ
pāpaiḥ saumyavivarjitaiḥ sukhabhāvagataih
vā api pitrariṣṭam vinirdiśet
44. One should certainly know of danger to the father for the newborn child (if the previous conditions apply). Or, if malefic planets, devoid of benefic influence, are situated in the sixth or eighth houses from the Sun, or if they are located in the fourth house (house of happiness/comfort), then one should declare danger to the father.
एवं चन्द्रात् स्थितैः पापैर्मातु कष्टं विचारयेत् ।
बलाऽबलविवेकेन कष्टं वा मृत्युमादिशेत् ॥४५॥
45. evaṃ candrāt sthitaiḥ pāpairmātu kaṣṭaṃ vicārayet .
balā'balavivekena kaṣṭaṃ vā mṛtyumādiśet.
45. evam candrāt sthitaiḥ pāpaiḥ mātuḥ kaṣṭam
vicārayet balābalavivekena kaṣṭam vā mṛtyum ādiśet
45. Similarly, by malefics situated from the Moon, one should consider suffering for the mother. By discerning the strength and weakness (of the planets/houses), one should declare either suffering or even death.
