एवं शोध्यावशेषाङ्कं राशिमानेन वर्द्धयेत् ।
ग्रहयुक्ते च तद्राशौ ग्रहमानेन वर्द्धयेत् ॥१॥

1. evaṃ śodhyāvaśeṣāṅkaṃ rāśimānena varddhayet .

Thus, one should multiply the remaining rectified digit by the measure of the sign. And when a planet is associated with that sign, one should multiply by the measure of the planet.
सर्वेषां च पुनर्योगः पिण्डाख्यः कथ्यते द्विज ।
गोसिंहौ दशभिर्गुण्यौ वसुभिर्युग्मवृश्चिकौ ॥२॥

2. sarveṣāṃ ca punaryogaḥ piṇḍākhyaḥ kathyate dvija .

And again, O twice-born (dvija), the sum total (yoga) of all is declared, which is known as piṇḍa. Taurus and Leo should be multiplied by ten, and Gemini and Scorpio by eight.
सप्तभिस्तुलमेषौ च मृगकन्ये च पञ्चभिः ।
शेषाः स्वसंख्यया गुण्या ग्रहमानमथोच्यते ॥३॥

3. saptabhistulameṣau ca mṛgakanye ca pañcabhiḥ .

Libra and Aries should be multiplied by seven, and Capricorn and Virgo by five. The remaining signs should be multiplied by their own intrinsic numerical value. Now, the measure of the planets is declared.
जीवारशुक्रसौम्यानां दशाष्टनगसायकाः ।
पञ्च शेषग्रहाणां च मानं प्रोक्तमिदं क्रमात् ॥४॥

4. jīvāraśukrasaumyānāṃ daśāṣṭanagasāyakāḥ .
pañca śeṣagrahāṇāṃ ca mānaṃ proktamidaṃ kramāt.

The durations (daśā) for Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Mercury are stated to be ten, eight, seven, and five (years) respectively. This measure is declared successively, with five (years) for the remaining planets.
