अधुना नाभसा योगाः कथ्यन्ते द्विजसत्तम ।
द्वात्रिंशात् तत्प्रभेदास्तु शतघ्नाष्टादशोन्मिताः ॥१॥
1. adhunā nābhasā yogāḥ kathyante dvijasattama .

1. O best among the twice-born (dvija), now the celestial (nābhasa) combinations (yoga) are being described. Their thirty-two main classifications indeed amount to eighteen hundred varieties.
आश्रयाख्यास्त्रयो योगाः दलसंज्ञं द्वयं ततः ।
आकृतिर्विशतिः संख्याः सप्त योगाः प्रकीर्तिताः ॥२॥
2. āśrayākhyāstrayo yogāḥ dalasaṃjñaṃ dvayaṃ tataḥ .
ākṛtirviśatiḥ saṃkhyāḥ sapta yogāḥ prakīrtitāḥ.

2. Three combinations (yoga) are known as Ashraya (āśraya). Thereafter, two are known as Dala (dala). Twenty are Akriti (ākṛti), and seven are Sankhya (saṃkhyā) combinations (yoga); thus they are declared.
रज्जुश्च मुसलश्चैव नलश्चेत्याश्रयास्त्रयः ।
मालाख्यः सर्पसंज्ञश्च दलयोगौ प्रकीर्तितौ ॥३॥
3. rajjuśca musalaścaiva nalaścetyāśrayāstrayaḥ .
mālākhyaḥ sarpasaṃjñaśca dalayogau prakīrtitau.

3. Rajju (rajju), Musala (musala), and Nala (nala) – these three are the Ashraya (āśraya) combinations (yoga). The two Dala (dala) combinations (yoga) are declared as Mala (mālā) and Sarpa (sarpa).
गदाख्यः शकटाख्यश्च स्रृङ्गाटकविहंगसौ ।
हलवज्रयवाश्चैव कमलं वापियूपकौ ॥४॥
4. gadākhyaḥ śakaṭākhyaśca srṛṅgāṭakavihaṃgasau .
halavajrayavāścaiva kamalaṃ vāpiyūpakau.

4. The combinations (yoga) named Gada (gada), Shakata (śakaṭa), Shringataka (śṛṅgāṭaka), and Vihaṃga (vihaṃga) [are listed]. Also, Hala (hala), Vajra (vajra), Yava (yava), Kamala (kamala), Vāpi (vāpi), and Yūpa (yūpa) [are likewise mentioned].
शरशक्तिदण्डनौकाकूटच्छत्रध्नूंषि च ।
अर्धचन्द्रस्तु चक्रं च समुद्रश्चेति विंशतिः ॥५॥
5. śaraśaktidaṇḍanaukākūṭacchatradhnūṃṣi ca .
ardhacandrastu cakraṃ ca samudraśceti viṃśatiḥ.

5. Shara (śara), Shakti (śakti), Daṇḍa (daṇḍa), Naukā (naukā), Kūṭa (kūṭa), Chatra (chatra), and Dhanuṣ (dhanuṣ) [are listed]. Indeed, Ardha-candra (ardhacandra), Cakra (cakra), and Samudra (samudra) – thus these twenty (yoga) are.
संख्याख्यावल्लकीदामपाशकेदारशूलकाः ।
युगो गोलश्च सप्तैते युक्ता दन्तमिता द्विज ॥६॥
6. saṃkhyākhyāvallakīdāmapāśakedāraśūlakāḥ .
yugo golaśca saptaite yuktā dantamitā dvija.

yugaḥ golaḥ ca sapta ete yuktā dantamitā dvija
6. O twice-born (dvija)! The yoga formations named Saṃkhyākhyā, Vallakī, Dāma, Pāśa, Kedāra, Śūlaka, Yuga, and Gola - these seven [specific yoga formations] are considered associated with the number thirty-two (dantamitā).
सर्वैश्चरे स्थितै रज्जुः स्थिरस्थैर्मुसलः स्मृतः ।
नलाख्यो द्विस्वभावस्थैराश्रयाख्या इमे स्मृताः ॥७॥
7. sarvaiścare sthitai rajjuḥ sthirasthairmusalaḥ smṛtaḥ .
nalākhyo dvisvabhāvasthairāśrayākhyā ime smṛtāḥ.
7. sarvaiḥ care sthitaiḥ rajjuḥ sthirasthaiḥ musalaḥ smṛtaḥ
nalākhyaḥ dvi-svabhāva-sthaiḥ āśrayākhyāḥ ime smṛtāḥ
7. When all planets are situated in movable signs, the Rajju (Rope) yoga is formed. When all [planets] are situated in fixed signs, the Musala (Pestle) yoga is declared. When all [planets] are situated in dual (dvisvabhāva) signs, the yoga named Nala (Reed) is formed. These are known as the Āśraya (Placement) yogas.
केन्द्रत्रयगतैः सौम्यैः पापैर्वा दलसंज्ञकौ ।
क्रमान्मालाभुजंगाख्यौ शुभाशुभफलप्रदौ ॥८॥
8. kendratrayagataiḥ saumyaiḥ pāpairvā dalasaṃjñakau .
kramānmālābhujaṃgākhyau śubhāśubhaphalapradau.

8. When benefic planets are situated in any three kendras (angles), the Mālā (Garland) yoga is formed. When malefic planets are situated in any three kendras, the Bhujaṅga (Serpent) yoga is formed. These two formations are known as Dala yogas, and they grant auspicious or inauspicious results respectively.
आसन्नकेन्द्रद्वयगैः सर्वैर्योगो गदाह्वयः ।
शकटं लग्नजायास्थैः खाम्बुगैर्विहगः स्मृतः ॥९॥
9. āsannakendradvayagaiḥ sarvairyogo gadāhvayaḥ .
śakaṭaṃ lagnajāyāsthaiḥ khāmbugairvihagaḥ smṛtaḥ.
9. āsannakendradvayagaiḥ sarvaiḥ yogaḥ gadāhvayaḥ
śakaṭam lagnajāyāsthaiḥ khāmbugaiḥ vihagaḥ smṛtaḥ
9. When all planets are situated in two adjacent kendras (angles), the yoga named Gadā (Mace) is formed. The Śakaṭa (Cart) yoga is declared when [all planets] are situated in the Lagna (Ascendant) and Jāyā (7th house). The Vihaga (Bird) yoga is remembered when [all planets] are situated in Kha (10th house) and Ambu (4th house).
योगः स्रृङ्गाटकं नाम लग्नात्मजतपःस्थितैः ।
अन्यस्थानात् त्रिकोणस्थैः सर्वैर्योगो हलाभिघः ॥१०॥
10. yogaḥ srṛṅgāṭakaṃ nāma lagnātmajatapaḥsthitaiḥ .
anyasthānāt trikoṇasthaiḥ sarvairyogo halābhighaḥ.
10. yogaḥ sṛṅgāṭakam nāma lagna-ātma-ja-tapaḥ-sthitaiḥ
anyasthānāt trikoṇasthaiḥ sarvaiḥ yogaḥ halābhighaḥ
10. The yoga (yoga) named Śṛṅgāṭaka is formed when all planets are situated in the Lagna (Ascendant), Ātmaja (5th house), and Tapas (9th house). When all planets are situated in houses that are trine (trikoṇa) from some other reference house, the yoga named Hala (Plough) is formed.
लग्नजायास्थितैः सौम्यैः पापाख्यैः खाऽम्बुसंस्थितैः ।
योगो वज्राभिधः प्रोक्तः वीपरीतस्थितैर्यवः ॥११॥
11. lagnajāyāsthitaiḥ saumyaiḥ pāpākhyaiḥ khā'mbusaṃsthitaiḥ .
yogo vajrābhidhaḥ proktaḥ vīparītasthitairyavaḥ.
11. lagna-jāyā-sthitaiḥ saumyaiḥ pāpa-ākhyaiḥ kha-ambu-saṃsthitaiḥ
yogaḥ vajra-abhidhaḥ proktaḥ viparīta-sthitaiḥ yavaḥ
11. When benefics are situated in the Ascendant (lagna) and the seventh house, and malefics are situated in the tenth and fourth houses, this planetary combination (yoga) is declared to be the Vajra yoga. Conversely, if planets are situated in the opposite manner (malefics in the Ascendant and seventh, benefics in the tenth and fourth), it is called Yava yoga.
सर्वकेन्द्रगतैः सर्वैर्मिश्रैः कमलसंज्ञकः ।
केन्द्रादन्यत्रगैः सर्वैर्योगो वापीसमाह्वयः ॥१२॥
12. sarvakendragataiḥ sarvairmiśraiḥ kamalasaṃjñakaḥ .
kendrādanyatragaiḥ sarvairyogo vāpīsamāhvayaḥ.
12. sarva-kendra-gataiḥ sarvaiḥ miśraiḥ kamala-saṃjñakaḥ
kendrāt anyatra-gaiḥ sarvaiḥ yogaḥ vāpī-samāhvayaḥ
12. When all planets, being of mixed (benefic and malefic) nature, are situated in all the angular houses (kendras), the planetary combination (yoga) is named Kamala. When all planets are situated in houses other than the kendras, the yoga is named Vāpī.
यूपो लग्नाच्चतुर्भस्थैः शरस्तुर्याच्चतुर्भगैः ।
शक्तिर्मदाच्चतुर्भस्थैर्दण्डो मध्याच्चतुर्भगैः ॥१३॥
13. yūpo lagnāccaturbhasthaiḥ śarasturyāccaturbhagaiḥ .
śaktirmadāccaturbhasthairdaṇḍo madhyāccaturbhagaiḥ.
13. yūpaḥ lagnāt catur-bha-sthitaiḥ
śaraḥ turyāt catur-bha-gaiḥ
śaktiḥ madāt catur-bha-sthitaiḥ

13. The Yūpa yoga is formed by planets situated in four successive houses starting from the Ascendant (lagna). The Śara yoga is formed by planets in four successive houses starting from the fourth house. The Śakti yoga is formed by planets in four successive houses starting from the seventh house (mada). The Daṇḍa yoga is formed by planets in four successive houses starting from the tenth house (madhya).
लग्नात् सप्तमगैनौ का कूटस्तुर्याच्च सप्तमैः ।
छत्राख्यः सप्तमादेवं चापं मध्याद् भसप्तगैः ॥१४॥
14. lagnāt saptamagainau kā kūṭasturyācca saptamaiḥ .
chatrākhyaḥ saptamādevaṃ cāpaṃ madhyād bhasaptagaiḥ.
14. lagnāt saptamagaiḥ naukā kūṭaḥ turyāt ca saptamaiḥ
chatra-ākhyaḥ saptamāt evam cāpam madhyāt bha-saptagaiḥ
14. When planets are situated in seven successive houses starting from the Ascendant (lagna), it is Naukā yoga. When planets are situated in seven successive houses starting from the fourth house, it is Kūṭa yoga. Similarly, when planets are in seven successive houses starting from the seventh house, it is called Chatra yoga. When planets are in seven successive houses starting from the tenth house (madhya), it is Cāpa yoga.
लग्नादेकान्तरस्थैश्च षड्भगैश्चक्रमुच्यते ।
धनादेकान्तरस्थैस्तु समुद्रः षडगृहाश्रितै ॥१५॥
15. lagnādekāntarasthaiśca ṣaḍbhagaiścakramucyate .
dhanādekāntarasthaistu samudraḥ ṣaḍagṛhāśritai.
15. lagnāt eka-antara-sthitaiḥ ca ṣaḍ-bhagaiḥ cakram ucyate
dhanāt eka-antara-sthitaiḥ tu samudraḥ ṣaḍ-gṛha-āśritaiḥ
15. When planets are situated in six houses with one intervening house vacant, starting from the Ascendant (lagna), this is called Cakra yoga. But when planets are situated in six houses with one intervening house vacant, starting from the second house (dhana), this is called Samudra yoga.
एकराशिस्थितैर्गोलो युगाख्यो द्विभसंस्थितैः ।
शूलस्तु त्रिभगैः प्रोक्तः केदारस्तु चतुर्भगैः ॥१६॥
16. ekarāśisthitairgolo yugākhyo dvibhasaṃsthitaiḥ .
śūlastu tribhagaiḥ proktaḥ kedārastu caturbhagaiḥ.
16. ekarāśisthitaiḥ golaḥ yuga ākhyaḥ dvibhasaṃsthitaiḥ
śūlaḥ tu tribhagaiḥ proktaḥ kedāraḥ tu caturbhagaiḥ
16. A Gola (yoga) is formed by planets situated in one zodiacal sign. The Yuga (yoga) is known when planets are situated in two signs. Śūla is declared when planets are in three signs, and Kedāra when they are in four signs.
पञ्चराशिस्थतैः पाशा दामाख्यः षड्गृहाश्रितैः ।
वीन्>आ सप्तभगैः सर्वैर्विहायान्यानुदीरितान् ॥१७॥
17. pañcarāśisthataiḥ pāśā dāmākhyaḥ ṣaḍgṛhāśritaiḥ .
vīn>ā saptabhagaiḥ sarvairvihāyānyānudīritān.
17. pañcarāśisthitaiḥ pāśā dāmākhyaḥ ṣaṭgṛhāśritaiḥ
vīṇā saptabhagaiḥ sarvaiḥ vihāya anyān udīritān
17. Pāśa (yoga) is formed by planets situated in five zodiacal signs. The Dāma (yoga) is named when planets occupy six signs. The Vīṇā (yoga) is formed by all planets occupying seven signs, excluding those (yogas) already mentioned.
अटनप्रियाः सुरूपाः परदेशस्वास्थ्यभागिनो मनुजाः ।
क्रूराः खलस्वभावा रज्जुप्रभवाः सदा कथिताः ॥१८॥
18. aṭanapriyāḥ surūpāḥ paradeśasvāsthyabhāgino manujāḥ .
krūrāḥ khalasvabhāvā rajjuprabhavāḥ sadā kathitāḥ.
18. aṭanapriyāḥ surūpāḥ paradeśasvāsthyabhāginaḥ manujāḥ
krūrāḥ khalasvabhāvāḥ rajjuprabhavāḥ sadā kathitāḥ
18. People born under the Rajju (yoga) are always said to be fond of wandering, good-looking, and enjoying well-being in foreign lands. They are also cruel and of wicked nature.
मानज्ञानधनाद्यैर्युक्ता भूपप्रियाः ख्याताः ।
बहुपुत्राः स्थिरचित्ता मुसलसमुत्था भवन्ति नराः ॥१९॥
19. mānajñānadhanādyairyuktā bhūpapriyāḥ khyātāḥ .
bahuputrāḥ sthiracittā musalasamutthā bhavanti narāḥ.
19. mānajñānadhanādyaiḥ yuktāḥ bhūpapriyāḥ khyātāḥ
bahuputrāḥ sthiracittāḥ musalasamutthāḥ bhavanti narāḥ
19. People born under the Musala (yoga) are endowed with respect, knowledge, wealth, and other good qualities. They are favored by rulers, renowned, have many sons, and possess steady minds.
न्यूनातिरिक्तदेहा धनसञ्चयभागिनोऽतिनिपुणाश्च ।
बन्धुहिताश्च सुरूपा नलयोगे सम्प्रसूयन्ते ॥२०॥
20. nyūnātiriktadehā dhanasañcayabhāgino'tinipuṇāśca .
bandhuhitāśca surūpā nalayoge samprasūyante.
20. nyūnātiriktadehāḥ dhanasañcayabhāginaḥ atinipuṇāḥ
ca bandhuhitāḥ ca surūpāḥ nalayoge samprasūyante
20. Those born under the Nala (yoga) have deficient or excessive bodies, accumulate wealth, are very skilled, beneficial to relatives, and are good-looking.
नित्यं सुखप्रधाना वाहनवस्त्रान्नभोगसम्पन्ना ।
कान्ता सुबहुस्त्रीका मालायां सम्प्रसूताः स्युः ॥२१॥
21. nityaṃ sukhapradhānā vāhanavastrānnabhogasampannā .
kāntā subahustrīkā mālāyāṃ samprasūtāḥ syuḥ.
21. nityam sukhapradhānā vāhanavastrānnabhogasampannā
kāntā subahustrīkā mālāyām samprasūtāḥ syuḥ
21. Those born in the Mālā (Garland) Yoga are always primarily happy, possessing vehicles, clothes, food, and various enjoyments. They have a charming wife and many women.
वुषमाः क्रूरा निःस्वा नित्यं दुःखार्दिताः सुदीनाश्च ।
परभक्षपाननिरताः सर्पप्रभवा भवन्ति नराः ॥२२॥
22. vuṣamāḥ krūrā niḥsvā nityaṃ duḥkhārditāḥ sudīnāśca .
parabhakṣapānaniratāḥ sarpaprabhavā bhavanti narāḥ.
22. viṣamāḥ krūrāḥ niḥsvāḥ nityam duḥkhārditāḥ sudīnāḥ ca
parabhakṣapānaniratāḥ sarpaprabhavāḥ bhavanti narāḥ
22. People born in the Sarpa (Snake) Yoga are wicked, cruel, and destitute. They are always afflicted by sorrow, very miserable, and constantly intent on consuming others' food and drink.
सततोद्युक्तार्थवशा यज्वानः शास्त्रगेयकुशलाश्च ।
धनकनकरत्नसम्पत्संयुक्ता मानवा गदायां तु ॥२३॥
23. satatodyuktārthavaśā yajvānaḥ śāstrageyakuśalāśca .
dhanakanakaratnasampatsaṃyuktā mānavā gadāyāṃ tu.
23. satatodyuktārthavaśāḥ yajvānaḥ śāstrageyakuśalāḥ ca
dhanakanakaratnasampatsaṃyuktāḥ mānavāḥ gadāyām tu
23. Those born in the Gadā (Mace) Yoga are always intent on acquiring wealth, perform Vedic Vedic rituals (yajña), and are skilled in scriptures and singing. Furthermore, they are endowed with riches, gold, and jewels.
रोगार्ताः कुनखा मूर्खाः शकटानुजीविनो निःस्वा ।
मित्रस्वजनविहीनाः शकटे जाता भवन्ति नराः ॥२४॥
24. rogārtāḥ kunakhā mūrkhāḥ śakaṭānujīvino niḥsvā .
mitrasvajanavihīnāḥ śakaṭe jātā bhavanti narāḥ.
24. rogārtāḥ kunakhāḥ mūrkhāḥ śakaṭaanujīvinaḥ niḥsvāḥ
mitrasvajanavihīnāḥ śakaṭe jātāḥ bhavanti narāḥ
24. People born in the Śakaṭa (Cart) Yoga are afflicted by disease, have disfigured nails, are foolish, and are destitute, earning their livelihood through carts. They are also devoid of friends and relatives.
भ्रमणरुचयोविकृष्टा दूताः सुरतानुजीवनो धृष्टाः ।
कलहप्रियाश्च नित्यं विहगे योगे सदा जाताः ॥२५॥
25. bhramaṇarucayovikṛṣṭā dūtāḥ suratānujīvano dhṛṣṭāḥ .
kalahapriyāśca nityaṃ vihage yoge sadā jātāḥ.
25. bhramaṇarucayaḥ avikṛṣṭāḥ dūtāḥ suratānujīvinaḥ
dhṛṣṭāḥ kalahapriyāḥ ca nityam vihage yoge sadā jātāḥ
25. Those born in the Vihaga (Bird) Yoga are fond of roaming and not easily deterred, serving as messengers. They subsist through sexual activities, are impudent, and are always quarrelsome.
प्रियकलहाः समरसहाः सुखिनो नृपतेः शुभकलत्राः ।
आढ्या युवतिद्वेष्याः स्रृङ्गाटकसम्भवा मनुजाः ॥२६॥
26. priyakalahāḥ samarasahāḥ sukhino nṛpateḥ śubhakalatrāḥ .
āḍhyā yuvatidveṣyāḥ srṛṅgāṭakasambhavā manujāḥ.
26. priyakalahāḥ samarasahāḥ sukhinaḥ nṛpateḥ śubhkalatrāḥ
āḍhyāḥ yuvatidveṣyāḥ śṛṅgāṭakasambhavāḥ manujāḥ
26. People born under the "śṛṅgāṭaka" configuration are fond of arguments, enduring in conflict, happy, possess good wives befitting a ruler, are wealthy, and are disliked by young women.
बह्वाशिनो दरिद्राः कृषीवला दुःखिताश्च सोद्वेगा ।
बन्धुसुहृदिभः त्यक्ताः प्रेष्याः हलसंज्ञके सदा पुरुषाः ॥२७॥
27. bahvāśino daridrāḥ kṛṣīvalā duḥkhitāśca sodvegā .
bandhusuhṛdibhaḥ tyaktāḥ preṣyāḥ halasaṃjñake sadā puruṣāḥ.
27. bahvāśinaḥ daridrāḥ kṛṣīvalāḥ duḥkhitāḥ ca sodvegāḥ
bandhusuhṛdbhiḥ tyaktāḥ preṣyāḥ halasaṃjñake sadā puruṣāḥ
27. Men born under the "Hala" configuration (yoga) are always heavy eaters, poor, farmers, distressed and anxious, abandoned by their relatives and friends, and become servants.
आद्यन्तवयःसुखिनः शूराः सुभगा निरीहाश्चः ।
भाग्यविहीना वज्रे जाताः खला विरुद्धाश्च ॥२८॥
28. ādyantavayaḥsukhinaḥ śūrāḥ subhagā nirīhāścaḥ .
bhāgyavihīnā vajre jātāḥ khalā viruddhāśca.
28. ādyantavayaḥsukhinaḥ śūrāḥ subhagāḥ nirīhāḥ ca
bhāgyavihīnāḥ vajre jātāḥ khalāḥ viruddhāḥ ca
28. Those born under the "vajra" configuration are happy in the early and later stages of life, brave, fortunate, and free from desire; however, they are also unlucky, wicked, and antagonistic.
व्रतनियममङ्गलपरा वयसो मध्ये सुखार्थपुत्रयुता ।
दातारः स्थिरचित्ता यवयोगभवाः सदा पुरुषाः ॥२९॥
29. vrataniyamamaṅgalaparā vayaso madhye sukhārthaputrayutā .
dātāraḥ sthiracittā yavayogabhavāḥ sadā puruṣāḥ.
29. vrataniyamamaṅgalaparāḥ vayasaḥ madhye sukhārthaputrayutāḥ
dātāraḥ sthiracittāḥ yavayogabhavāḥ sadā puruṣāḥ
29. Men born under the "yava" configuration (yoga) are always dedicated to vows, regulations, and auspicious practices; they are endowed with happiness, wealth, and sons in the middle of their lives; and they are generous and stable-minded.
विभवगुणाद्ग्।
याः पुरुषाः स्थिरायुषो विपुलकीर्तय शुद्धाः ।
शुभशतकाः पृथ्वीशाः कमलभवाः मानवा नित्यम् ॥३०॥
30. vibhavaguṇādg.
yāḥ puruṣāḥ sthirāyuṣo vipulakīrtaya śuddhāḥ .

30. vibhavaguṇāḍhyāḥ puruṣāḥ sthirāyuṣaḥ vipulakīrtayaḥ
śuddhāḥ śubhaśatakāḥ pṛthvīśāḥ kamalabhavāḥ mānavāḥ nityam
30. Human beings born under the "kamala" configuration (yoga) are always abundant in wealth and virtues, long-lived, of extensive renown, pure, possess hundreds of auspicious qualities, and become rulers of the earth.
निधिकरणे निपुणधियः स्थिरार्थसुखसंयुता सुतयुताश्च ।

हिंस्राः कुशिल्पकाराः शरयोगे मानवाः प्रसूयन्ते ॥३३॥
33. iṣukārā bandhanapāḥ mṛgayādhanasevitāśca maṃsādā .

दुःखितनीचप्रेष्या दण्डप्र्भवा भवन्ति नराः ॥३५॥

कृपणा मलिना लुब्धा नौसञ्जाताः खलाः पुरुषाः ॥३६॥
36. salilopajīvivibhavāḥ bahvāśāḥ khyātakīrtayo duṣṭāḥ .

कूटसमुत्था नित्यं भवन्ति गिरिदुर्गवासिनो मनुजाः ॥३७॥
37. anṛtakathanabandhanapā niṣkiñcanāḥ śaṭhāḥ krūrāḥ .

प्रथमेऽन्त्ये वयसि नराः सुखवान् दीर्घायुरातपत्री स्यात् ॥३८॥
38. svajanāśrayo dayāvānnānānṛpavallabhaḥ prakṛṣṭamatiḥ .

38. A man who provides support to his relatives, is compassionate, a favorite of various kings, and possesses excellent intellect, will be happy, long-lived, and enjoy high status (symbolized by an umbrella) during the initial and final periods of his life.
आनृतिकगुप्तपालाश्चोराः कितवाश्च कानने निरताः ।
कार्मुकयोगे जाता भाग्यविहीनाः शुभा वयोमध्ये ॥३९॥
39. ānṛtikaguptapālāścorāḥ kitavāśca kānane niratāḥ .

39. Those born in a "kārmuka yoga" are liars, secret guards, thieves, and gamblers, who are engaged in forests. They are unfortunate, but experience good fortune in middle age.
सेनापतयः सर्वी कान्तशरीरा नृपप्रिया बलिनः ।
मणिकनकभूषणयुता भवन्ति योगेऽर्धचन्द्राख्ये ॥४०॥
40. senāpatayaḥ sarvī kāntaśarīrā nṛpapriyā balinaḥ .
maṇikanakabhūṣaṇayutā bhavanti yoge'rdhacandrākhye.

40. Those born in the "ardhacandra" (half-moon) yoga become accomplished army commanders. They possess attractive physiques, are favored by kings, are powerful, and are adorned with gem and gold ornaments.

भवति नरेन्द्रो मनुजश्चक्रे यो जायते योगे ॥४१॥

उदधिसमुत्थाः पुरुषाः स्थिरविभवाः साधुशीलाश्च ॥४२॥
42. bahuratnadhanasamṛddhā bhogayutā dhanajanapriyāḥ sasutā .

बहुभाषिणो विशीला बहुभृत्याः सम्प्रतानाश्च ॥४५॥

46. Farmers, who are truthful and happy, are useful to many. Those born in a cultivated field are fickle-natured and endowed with wealth.

संग्रामे लब्धयशा शूले योगे भवन्ति नराः ॥४७॥
47. tīkṣṇālasadhanahīnā hiṃsrāḥ subahiṣkṛtā mahāśūrāḥ .

47. When born in a Śūla (astrological) combination (yoga), people are fierce, lazy, devoid of wealth, violent, utterly rejected, and yet great heroes who attain fame in battle.
पाखण्डवादिनो वा धनरहिता वा बहिष्कृता लोके ।
सुतमातृधर्मरहिता युगयोगे ये नरा जाताः ॥४८॥
48. pākhaṇḍavādino vā dhanarahitā vā bahiṣkṛtā loke .
sutamātṛdharmarahitā yugayoge ye narā jātāḥ.

48. Those who are born in a Yuga (astrological) combination (yoga) are either hypocrites, or poor, or outcasted in the world, and are devoid of the dutiful conduct (dharma) expected of a son and mother.
बलसंयुक्ता विधना वद्याविज्ञानवर्जिता मलिना ।
नित्यं दुःखितदीना गोले योगे भवन्ति नराः ॥४९॥
49. balasaṃyuktā vidhanā vadyāvijñānavarjitā malinā .
nityaṃ duḥkhitadīnā gole yoge bhavanti narāḥ.

49. When born in a Gola (astrological) combination (yoga), people are endowed with strength, yet they are poor, devoid of specific knowledge, impure, and always miserable and distressed.
सर्वास्वपि दशस्वेते भवेयुः फलदायिनः ।
प्राणिनामिति विज्ञेयाः प्रवदन्ति तवाग्रजाः ॥५०॥
50. sarvāsvapi daśasvete bhaveyuḥ phaladāyinaḥ .
prāṇināmiti vijñeyāḥ pravadanti tavāgrajāḥ.
50. sarvāsu api daśāsu ete bhaveyuḥ phaladāyinaḥ
prāṇinām iti vijñeyāḥ pravadanti tava agrajāḥ
50. These (combinations) would yield results for all living beings in all ten astrological conditions (daśa). Thus, your predecessors declare this to be understood.
