अथाह व्ययभावस्य कथयामि फलं द्विज ।
व्ययेशे शुभसंयुक्ते स्वभे स्वोच्चगतेऽपि वा ॥१॥

Now, O twice-born (dvija), I shall tell you the results concerning the house of expenditure (12th house). This is when the lord of expenditure (12th house) is associated with auspicious planets, or is in its own sign, or is even in its sign of exaltation.
व्यये च शुभसंयुक्ते शुभकार्ये व्ययस्तदा ।
चन्द्रो व्ययाधिपो धर्मलाभमन्त्रेषु संस्थितः ॥२॥

2. vyaye ca śubhasaṃyukte śubhakārye vyayastadā .

And when the house of expenditure (12th house) is conjoined with auspicious planets, then there will be expenditure on auspicious deeds. If the Moon is the lord of expenditure (12th house) and is situated in the houses of natural law (dharma - 9th), gains (11th), or counsel/mantras (5th), [then some result will occur, implied].
स्वोच्चे स्वर्क्षे निजांशे वा लाभधर्मात्मजांशके ।
दिव्यागारादिपर्यंको दिव्यगन्धैकभोगवान् ॥३॥

If a planet is in its own exaltation, its own sign, its own divisional chart (aṃśa), or in the divisional chart (aṃśa) of the 11th house (lābha), 9th house (dharma), or 5th house (ātmaja), the person will possess splendid houses, luxurious beds, and enjoy only divine fragrances.
परार्ध्यरमणो दिव्यवस्त्रमाल्यादिभूषणः ।
परार्ध्यवित्तसंयुतो विज्ञो दिनानि नयति प्रभुः ॥४॥

4. parārdhyaramaṇo divyavastramālyādibhūṣaṇaḥ .

Such a capable and wise person (prabhu) spends their days with an excellent beloved, adorned with splendid clothes, garlands, and other ornaments, and possessing immense wealth.
एवंस्वशत्रुनीचांशेऽष्टमांशे वाऽष्टमे रिपौ ।
संस्थितः कुरुते जातं कान्तासुखविवर्जितम् ॥५॥

5. evaṃsvaśatrunīcāṃśe'ṣṭamāṃśe vā'ṣṭame ripau .
saṃsthitaḥ kurute jātaṃ kāntāsukhavivarjitam.

Similarly, if a planet is situated in its enemy's divisional chart (aṃśa), or in its debilitation divisional chart (aṃśa), or in the 8th house's divisional chart (aṃśa), or in the 8th house, or in an enemy sign, it makes the native devoid of conjugal happiness.
व्ययाधिक्यपरिक्लान्तं दिव्यभोगनिराकृतम् ।
स हि केन्द्रत्रिकोणस्थः स्वस्त्रियाऽलंकृतः स्वयम् ॥६॥

6. vyayādhikyapariklāntaṃ divyabhoganirākṛtam .
sa hi kendratrikoṇasthaḥ svastriyā'laṃkṛtaḥ svayam.

The native (who is subjected to the adverse planetary placement described earlier) will be exhausted by excessive expenditure and deprived of splendid enjoyments. However, if a planet is situated in a quadrant (kendra) or trine (trikoṇa), the native himself will indeed be adorned by his own wife.
यथा लग्नात् फलं चैतदात्मनः परिकीर्तितम् ।
एवं भ्रात्रादिभावेषु तत्तत्सर्वं विचारयेत् ॥७॥
एवं भ्रात्रादिभावेषु तत्तत्सर्वं विचारयेत् ॥७॥
7. yathā lagnāt phalaṃ caitadātmanaḥ parikīrtitam .

Just as these results have been described for the self (ātman) based on the Ascendant (lagna), similarly, one should consider all such effects for the various houses (bhāva) related to siblings and other relatives.
दृश्यचक्रार्धगाः खेटाः प्रत्यक्षफलदायकाः ।
अदृश्यार्धगताः खेटाः परोक्षे फलदाः स्मृताः ॥८॥

8. dṛśyacakrārdhagāḥ kheṭāḥ pratyakṣaphaladāyakāḥ .
adṛśyārdhagatāḥ kheṭāḥ parokṣe phaladāḥ smṛtāḥ.
adṛśyārdhagatāḥ kheṭāḥ parokṣe phaladāḥ smṛtāḥ.

dṛśyacakra-ardha-gāḥ kheṭāḥ pratyakṣa-phala-dāyakāḥ
| adṛśya-ardha-gatāḥ kheṭāḥ parokṣe phala-dāḥ smṛtāḥ
| adṛśya-ardha-gatāḥ kheṭāḥ parokṣe phala-dāḥ smṛtāḥ

Planets located in the visible half of the zodiacal circle yield direct results. Those planets that are situated in the invisible half are understood to bestow their effects indirectly.
व्ययस्थानगतोः राहुर्भौमार्किरविसंयुतः ।
तदीशेऽप्यर्कसंयुक्ते नरके पतनं भवेत् ॥९॥
तदीशेऽप्यर्कसंयुक्ते नरके पतनं भवेत् ॥९॥
9. vyayasthānagatoḥ rāhurbhaumārkiravisaṃyutaḥ .
tadīśe'pyarkasaṃyukte narake patanaṃ bhavet.

vyayasthāna-gataḥ rāhuḥ bhauma-arki-ravi-saṃyutaḥ
| tad-īśe api arka-saṃyukte narake patanam bhavet

If Rāhu is situated in the twelfth house (vyaya sthāna) and is conjoined with Mars, Saturn, and the Sun, and if, additionally, the lord of that twelfth house is also conjoined with the Sun, then a fall into hell (naraka) may occur.
व्ययस्थानगते सौम्ये तदीशे स्वोच्चराशिगे ।
शुभयुक्ते सुभैर्दृष्टे मोक्सः स्यान्नात्र संशयः ॥१०॥

10. vyayasthānagate saumye tadīśe svoccarāśige .

10.
When Mercury (Saumya) is situated in the twelfth house (vyaya sthāna), and its lord is in its own sign of exaltation, conjoined with auspicious planets and aspected by benefics, then final liberation (mokṣa) is attained; there is no doubt about this.
व्ययेशे पापसंयुक्ते व्यये पापसमन्विते ।
पापग्रहेण संदृष्टे देशाद्देशान्तरं गतः ॥११॥

11. vyayeśe pāpasaṃyukte vyaye pāpasamanvite .
pāpagraheṇa saṃdṛṣṭe deśāddeśāntaraṃ gataḥ.

pāpa-graheṇa sandṛṣṭe deśāt deśa-antaram gataḥ

If the lord of the twelfth house (vyaya) is conjoined with malefic planets, and the twelfth house itself is associated with malefics and aspected by a malefic planet, then the person travels from one country to another.
व्ययेशे शुभराशिस्थे व्ययर्क्षे शुभसंयुते ।
शुभग्रहेण संदृष्टे स्वदेशात् सञ्चरो भवेत् ॥१२॥
शुभग्रहेण संदृष्टे स्वदेशात् सञ्चरो भवेत् ॥१२॥
12. vyayeśe śubharāśisthe vyayarkṣe śubhasaṃyute .
śubhagraheṇa saṃdṛṣṭe svadeśāt sañcaro bhavet.

12.
If the lord of the twelfth house (vyaya) is situated in an auspicious sign, and the twelfth house itself is conjoined with auspicious planets and aspected by a benefic planet, then a journey from one's own country will occur.
व्यये मन्दादिसंयुक्ते भूमिजेन समन्विते ।
सु/भदृष्टेर्न सम्प्राप्तिः पापमूलाद्धनार्जनम् ॥१३॥

13. vyaye mandādisaṃyukte bhūmijena samanvite .

13.
If the twelfth house (vyaya) is conjoined with Saturn (manda) and other malefic planets, and also accompanied by Mars, and there is no aspect from benefic planets, then wealth is accumulated from sinful sources.
लग्नेशे व्ययराशिस्थे व्ययेशे लग्नसंयुते ।
भृगुपुत्रेण संयुक्ते धर्ममूलाद्धनव्ययः ॥१४॥

14.
When the lord of the ascendant is located in the twelfth house (vyaya-rāśi), and the lord of the twelfth house is conjoined with the ascendant, and this is further conjoined with Venus (bhṛguputra), then there is expenditure of wealth for (righteous) conduct (dharma).
