स्थानस्थितिवशेनैवं फलं प्रोक्तं पुरातनैः ।
मिथो भावेशसम्बन्धात्फलानि कथयाम्यहम् ॥१॥
1. sthānasthitivaśenaivaṃ phalaṃ proktaṃ purātanaiḥ .

1. The results based on the strength of a planet's position (sthāna) have thus been declared by the ancients. Now, I (aham) shall describe the results based on the mutual relationships between the lords of houses (bhāvas).
लग्नेशस्य गशाकाले सत्कीतिर्देहजं सुखम् ।
धनेशस्य दशायां तु क्लेशो वा मृत्युतो भयम् ॥२॥
2. lagneśasya gaśākāle satkītirdehajaṃ sukham .
dhaneśasya daśāyāṃ tu kleśo vā mṛtyuto bhayam.
2. lagnesasya daśākāle satkīrtiḥ dehajam sukham
dhanesasya daśāyām tu kleśaḥ vā mṛtyutaḥ bhayam
2. During the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the ascendant (lagna), there will be good reputation and physical comfort. However, during the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of wealth, there will be distress or fear from death.
सहजेशदशाकाले ज्ञेयं पापफलं नृणाम् ।
सुखाधीशदशायां तु गृहभूमिसुखं भवेत् ॥३॥
3. sahajeśadaśākāle jñeyaṃ pāpaphalaṃ nṛṇām .
sukhādhīśadaśāyāṃ tu gṛhabhūmisukhaṃ bhavet.
3. sahajeśadaśākāle jñeyam pāpaphaḷam nṛṇām
sukhādhīśadaśāyām tu gṛhabhūmisukham bhavet
3. During the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the third house (sahaja), evil consequences (pāpaphaḷam) for people should be understood. However, during the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of happiness (sukha), there will be joy related to home and land.
पञ्चमेशस्य पाके च विद्याप्तिः पुत्रजं सुखम् ।
रोगेशस्य दशाकाले देहपीडा रिपोर्भयम् ॥४॥
4. pañcameśasya pāke ca vidyāptiḥ putrajaṃ sukham .
rogeśasya daśākāle dehapīḍā riporbhayam.
4. pañcameśasya pāke ca vidyāptiḥ putrajjam sukham
rogeśasya daśākāle dehapīḍā ripoḥ bhayam
4. During the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the fifth house, there will be acquisition of knowledge and happiness from children. Additionally, during the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of disease, there will be bodily suffering and fear from enemies.
सप्तमेशस्य पाके तु स्त्रीपीडा मृत्युतो भयम् ।
अष्टमेशदशाकाले मृत्युभीतिर्धनक्षतिः ॥५॥
5. saptameśasya pāke tu strīpīḍā mṛtyuto bhayam .
aṣṭameśadaśākāle mṛtyubhītirdhanakṣatiḥ.
5. saptameśasya pāke tu strīpīḍā mṛtyutaḥ bhayam
aṣṭameśadaśākāle mṛtyubhītiḥ dhanakṣatiḥ
5. However, during the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the seventh house, there will be suffering for one's spouse or women, and fear of death. During the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the eighth house, there will be fear of death and loss of wealth.
धर्मशस्य दशायां च भूरिल्लाभो यशःसुखम् ।
दशमेशदशाकाले सम्मानं नृपसंसदि ॥६॥
6. dharmaśasya daśāyāṃ ca bhūrillābho yaśaḥsukham .
daśameśadaśākāle sammānaṃ nṛpasaṃsadi.
6. dharmaśasya daśāyām ca bhūriḥ lābhaḥ yaśaḥsukham
daśameśadaśākāle sammānam nṛpasaṃsadi
6. During the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the ninth house, which represents righteousness (dharma), there will be great profit and joy from renown. During the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the tenth house, one will receive honor in royal courts or assemblies.
लाभेशस्य दशाकाले लाभे बाधा रुजोभयम् ।
व्ययेशस्य दशा नृणां बहुकष्टप्रदा द्विज ॥७॥
7. lābheśasya daśākāle lābhe bādhā rujobhayam .
vyayeśasya daśā nṛṇāṃ bahukaṣṭapradā dvija.
7. lābheśasya daśākāle lābhe bādhā rujaḥ bhayam
vyayeśasya daśā nṛṇām bahukaṣṭapradā dvija
7. O twice-born (dvija), during the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the eleventh house (gains), there will be hindrances to gains, as well as sicknesses and fear. The planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the twelfth house (expenditures) causes much suffering for people.
दशारम्भे शुभस्थाने स्थितस्यापि शुभं फलम् ।
अशुभस्थानगस्यैवं शुभस्यापि न शोभनम् ॥८॥
8. daśārambhe śubhasthāne sthitasyāpi śubhaṃ phalam .
aśubhasthānagasyaivaṃ śubhasyāpi na śobhanam.
8. daśārambhe śubhasthāne sthitasya api śubham phalam
aśubhasthānagasya evam śubhasya api na śobhanam
8. At the beginning of a planetary period (dasha), if the dasha lord is situated in an auspicious house, it yields favorable results. Conversely, even an auspicious planet, if located in an inauspicious house at the beginning of its dasha, will not produce good results.
पञ्चमेशेन युक्तस्य कर्मेशस्य दशा शुभा ।
नवमेशेन युक्तस्य कर्मेशस्यातिशभना ॥९॥
9. pañcameśena yuktasya karmeśasya daśā śubhā .
navameśena yuktasya karmeśasyātiśabhanā.
9. pañcameśena yuktasya karmeśasya daśā śubhā
navameśena yuktasya karmeśasya atiśobhanā
9. The planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the tenth house (karma), when associated with the lord of the fifth house, is considered auspicious. If the lord of the tenth house (karma) is associated with the lord of the ninth house, its planetary period (dasha) is exceedingly auspicious.
पञ्चमेशेन युक्तस्य ग्रहस्यापि दशा शुभा ।
तथा धर्मपयुक्तस्य दशा परमशोभना ॥१०॥
10. pañcameśena yuktasya grahasyāpi daśā śubhā .
tathā dharmapayuktasya daśā paramaśobhanā.
10. pañcameśena yuktasya grahasya api daśā śubhā
tathā dharmapayuktasya daśā paramaśobhanā
10. Even the planetary period (dasha) of a planet associated with the lord of the fifth house is auspicious. Similarly, the planetary period (dasha) of a planet associated with the lord of the ninth house (dharma) is supremely auspicious.
सुखेशसहितस्यापि धर्मेशस्य दशा शुभा ।
पञ्चमस्थानगस्यापि मानेशस्य दशाशुभा ॥११॥
11. sukheśasahitasyāpi dharmeśasya daśā śubhā .
pañcamasthānagasyāpi māneśasya daśāśubhā.
11. sukheśasahitasya api dharmeśasya daśā śubhā
pañcamasthānagasya api māneśasya daśā aśubhā
11. The planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the ninth house (dharma), even when associated with the lord of the fourth house (happiness), is auspicious. However, the planetary period (dasha) of the lord of the tenth house (honor), even when situated in the fifth house, is inauspicious.
एवं त्रिकोणनाथानां केन्द्रस्थानां दशाः शुभाः ।
तथा कोणस्थितानां च केन्द्रेशानां दशाः शुभाः ॥१२॥
12. evaṃ trikoṇanāthānāṃ kendrasthānāṃ daśāḥ śubhāḥ .
tathā koṇasthitānāṃ ca kendreśānāṃ daśāḥ śubhāḥ.
12. evam trikoṇanāthānām kendrasthānām daśāḥ śubhāḥ
tathā koṇasthitānām ca kendreśānām daśāḥ śubhāḥ
12. Thus, the planetary periods (daśā) of the lords of trine houses (koṇa) are auspicious when those lords are situated in angular houses (kendra). Similarly, the planetary periods (daśā) of the lords of angular houses (kendra) are auspicious when those lords are situated in trine houses (koṇa).
केन्द्रेशः कोणभावस्थः कोणेशः केन्द्रगो यदि ।
तयोर्दशां शुभां प्राहुर्ज्योतिःशास्त्रविदो जनाः ॥१३॥
13. kendreśaḥ koṇabhāvasthaḥ koṇeśaḥ kendrago yadi .
tayordaśāṃ śubhāṃ prāhurjyotiḥśāstravido janāḥ.
13. kendreśaḥ koṇabhāvasthaḥ koṇeśaḥ kendragaḥ yadi
tayoḥ daśām śubhām prāhuḥ jyotiḥśāstravidaḥ janāḥ
13. If the lord of an angular house (kendra) is situated in a trine house (koṇa), and the lord of a trine house (koṇa) is situated in an angular house (kendra), then experts in astrology (jyotiḥśāstra) declare the planetary periods (daśā) of these two (planets) to be auspicious.
षष्ठाष्टमव्ययाधीशा अपि कोणेशसंयुता ।
तेषां दशाऽपि शुभदा कथिता कालकोविदैः ॥१४॥
14. ṣaṣṭhāṣṭamavyayādhīśā api koṇeśasaṃyutā .
teṣāṃ daśā'pi śubhadā kathitā kālakovidaiḥ.
14. ṣaṣṭhāṣṭamavyayādhīśāḥ api koṇeśasaṃyutā
teṣām daśā api śubhadā kathitā kālakovidaiḥ
14. Even if the lords of the 6th, 8th, and 12th houses are associated with the lords of trine houses (koṇa), their planetary periods (daśā) are also declared to be auspicious by the experts in time (kāla-kovidaiḥ).
कोणेशो यदि केम्द्रस्थः केन्द्रेशो यदि कोणगः ।
ताभ्यां युक्तस्य खेटस्य दृष्टियुक्तस्य चैतयोः ॥१५॥
15. koṇeśo yadi kemdrasthaḥ kendreśo yadi koṇagaḥ .
tābhyāṃ yuktasya kheṭasya dṛṣṭiyuktasya caitayoḥ.
15. koṇeśaḥ yadi kendrasthaḥ kendreśaḥ yadi koṇagaḥ
tābhyām yuktasya kheṭasya dṛṣṭiyuktasya ca etayoḥ
15. If the lord of a trine house (koṇa) is situated in an angular house (kendra), and the lord of an angular house (kendra) is situated in a trine house (koṇa); then, regarding any planet that is conjoined with these two (koṇa and kendra lords) or aspected by these two (koṇa and kendra lords)...
दशां शुभप्रदां प्राहुर्विद्वांसो दैवचिन्तकाः ।
लग्नेशो धर्मभावस्थो धर्मेशो लग्नगो यदि ॥१६॥
16. daśāṃ śubhapradāṃ prāhurvidvāṃso daivacintakāḥ .
lagneśo dharmabhāvastho dharmeśo lagnago yadi.
16. daśām śubhapradām prāhuḥ vidvāṃsaḥ daivacintakāḥ
lagneśaḥ dharmabhāvasthaḥ dharmeśaḥ lagnagaḥ yadi
16. Wise astrologers (daivachintakāḥ) declare the planetary period (daśā) of such a planet (from the previous verse) to be auspicious. Furthermore, if the lord of the ascendant (lagna) is situated in the dharma house (dharma-bhāva), and the lord of the dharma house (dharma-bhāva) is situated in the ascendant (lagna)...
एतयोस्तु दशाकाले सुखधर्मसमुद्भवः ।
कर्मेशो लग्नराशिस्थो लग्नेशः कर्मभावगः ॥१७॥
17. etayostu daśākāle sukhadharmasamudbhavaḥ .
karmeśo lagnarāśistho lagneśaḥ karmabhāvagaḥ.
17. etayoḥ tu daśākāle sukha-dharma-samudbhavaḥ karma-īśaḥ
lagna-rāśi-sthaḥ lagna-īśaḥ karma-bhāva-gaḥ
17. When the lord of the 10th house is situated in the ascendant sign and the lord of the ascendant is situated in the 10th house, then during the daśā period of these two (lords), there will be the arising of happiness and prosperity (dharma).
तयोर्दशाविपाके तु राज्यलाभो भवेद्ध्रुवम् ।
त्रिषडायगतानां च त्रिषडायाधिपैर्युजम् ॥१८॥
18. tayordaśāvipāke tu rājyalābho bhaveddhruvam .
triṣaḍāyagatānāṃ ca triṣaḍāyādhipairyujam.
18. tayoḥ daśā-vipāke tu rājya-lābhaḥ bhavet dhruvam
triṣaḍāya-gatānām ca triṣaḍāya-adhipaiḥ yujam
18. During the fruition of their daśā periods (referring to the ascendant lord and the tenth house lord), there will certainly be the gain of a kingdom (rājya). However, for those (planets) situated in the 3rd, 6th, or 11th houses, or associated with the lords of the 3rd, 6th, or 11th houses...
शुभानामपि खेटानां दशा पापफलप्रदा ।
मारकस्थानगानां च मारकेशयुजामपि ॥१९॥
19. śubhānāmapi kheṭānāṃ daśā pāpaphalapradā .
mārakasthānagānāṃ ca mārakeśayujāmapi.
19. śubhānām api kheṭānām daśā pāpa-phala-pradā
māraka-sthāna-gatānām ca mārakeśa-yujām api
19. Even the daśā of auspicious planets (benefics) yields inauspicious results (pāpa phala) (if they are afflicted as described). Furthermore, the daśā of planets situated in the death-inflicting houses (māraka sthāna) or associated with the death-inflicting lord (mārakeśa) also yields inauspicious results.
रन्ध्रस्थानगतानां च दशाऽनिष्टफलप्रदा ।
एवं भावेशसम्बन्धादूरनीयं दशाफलम् ॥२०॥
20. randhrasthānagatānāṃ ca daśā'niṣṭaphalapradā .
evaṃ bhāveśasambandhādūranīyaṃ daśāphalam.
20. randhra-sthāna-gatānām ca daśā aniṣṭa-phala-pradā
evam bhāveśa-sambandhāt ūhanīyam daśā-phalam
20. And the daśā of planets situated in the 8th house (randhra sthāna) also yields undesirable results. Therefore, the results of the daśā should be inferred in this manner, based on the connections of the house lords.
