And now, O best among the twice-born (dvijottama), I will explain the results concerning the house of longevity (āyurbhāva). When the lord of the house of longevity is in an angular house (kendra), he bestows a long life.
आयुस्थानाधिपः पापैः सह तत्रैव संस्थितः ।
करोत्यल्पायुषं जातं लग्नेशोऽप्यत्र संस्थितः ॥२॥

2. āyusthānādhipaḥ pāpaiḥ saha tatraiva saṃsthitaḥ .
karotyalpāyuṣaṃ jātaṃ lagneśo'pyatra saṃsthitaḥ.
karotyalpāyuṣaṃ jātaṃ lagneśo'pyatra saṃsthitaḥ.

āyuḥsthānādhipaḥ pāpaiḥ saha tatra eva saṃsthitaḥ
karoti alpāyuṣam jātam lagneśaḥ api atra saṃsthitaḥ

If the lord of the house of longevity is situated in that very house (the eighth house) along with malefic planets (pāpa), the native (jāta) becomes short-lived. This outcome also applies if the lord of the ascendant (lagneśa) is situated there.
एवं हि शनिना चिन्ता कार्या तर्कैर्विचक्षणैः ।
कर्माधिपेन च तथा चिन्तनं कार्यमायुषः ॥३॥

3. evaṃ hi śaninā cintā kāryā tarkairvicakṣaṇaiḥ .

Indeed, wise astrologers should assess longevity (āyuṣ) by means of reasoning concerning Saturn, and similarly, by considering the lord of the 10th house (karma bhava).
षष्ठे व्ययेऽपि षष्ठेशो व्ययाधीशो रिपौ व्यये ।
लग्नेऽष्टमे स्थितो वाऽपि दीर्घमायुः प्रयच्छति ॥४॥

4. ṣaṣṭhe vyaye'pi ṣaṣṭheśo vyayādhīśo ripau vyaye .

When the lord of the sixth house is in the sixth or even in the twelfth (vyaya) house, or when the lord of the twelfth house is in the enemy's (ripu) house or in the twelfth house, or even if [either of these lords is] situated in the lagna (ascendant) or the eighth house, it grants long life (āyuṣ).
स्वस्थाने स्वांशके वाऽपि मित्रेशे मित्रमन्दिरे ।
दीर्घायुषं करोत्येव लग्नेशोऽष्टमपः पुनः ॥५॥

5. svasthāne svāṃśake vā'pi mitreśe mitramandire .
dīrghāyuṣaṃ karotyeva lagneśo'ṣṭamapaḥ punaḥ.

Moreover, when the lord of the lagna (ascendant) and the lord of the eighth house are situated in their own house, or in their own navamśa, or even in a friendly sign or a friend's house, they certainly grant long life (āyuṣ).
लग्नाष्टमपकर्मेशमन्दाः केन्द्रत्रिकोणयोः ।
लाभे वा संस्थितास्तद्वद् दिशेयुर्दीर्घमायुषम् ॥६॥

6. lagnāṣṭamapakarmeśamandāḥ kendratrikoṇayoḥ .

6.
Similarly, if the lord of the lagna (ascendant), the lord of the eighth house, the lord of the tenth house (karma bhava), and Saturn are situated in quadrants (kendra) or trines (trikoṇa), or in the eleventh house (lābha bhava), they would indicate long life (āyuṣ).
एवं बहुविधा विद्वन्नायुर्योगाः प्रकीर्तिताः ।
एषु यो बलवांस्तस्याऽनुसारादायुरादिशेत् ॥७॥

7. evaṃ bahuvidhā vidvannāyuryogāḥ prakīrtitāḥ .

Thus, O wise one, many kinds of longevity (āyuṣ) combinations (yoga) have been enumerated. Among these, one should predict the longevity (āyuṣ) based on which one is the strongest.
अष्टमाधिपतौ केन्द्रे लग्नेशे बलवर्जते ।
विंशद्वर्षाण्यसौ जीवेद् द्वात्रिंशत्परमायुषम् ॥८॥

8. aṣṭamādhipatau kendre lagneśe balavarjate .
viṃśadvarṣāṇyasau jīved dvātriṃśatparamāyuṣam.

If the lord of the eighth house is in a quadrant (kendra) and the lord of the ascendant lacks strength, such a person lives for twenty years, with a maximum lifespan of thirty-two years.
रन्ध्रेशे नीचराशिस्थे रन्ध्रे पापग्रहैर्युते ।
लग्नेशे दुर्बले जन्तुरल्पायुर्भवति ध्रुवम् ॥९॥

9. randhreśe nīcarāśisthe randhre pāpagrahairyute .

If the lord of the eighth house is in a debilitated sign, the eighth house is conjoined with malefic planets, and the lord of the ascendant is weak, then the native will certainly have a short lifespan.
रन्ध्रेशे पापसंयुक्ते रन्ध्रे पापग्रहैर्युते ।
व्यये क्रूरग्रहाक्रान्ते जातमात्रं मृतिर्भवेत् ॥१०॥

If the lord of the eighth house is conjoined with a malefic planet, the eighth house is conjoined with malefic planets, and the twelfth house is afflicted by malefic planets, then death occurs immediately after birth.
केन्द्रत्रिकोणगाः पापाः शुभाः षष्ठाष्टगा यदि ।
लग्ने नीचस्थरन्ध्रेशो जातः सद्यो मृतो भवेत् ॥११॥

11. kendratrikoṇagāḥ pāpāḥ śubhāḥ ṣaṣṭhāṣṭagā yadi .

11.
If malefic planets are in quadrant (kendra) and trine (trikoṇa) houses, benefics are in the sixth and eighth houses, and the debilitated lord of the eighth house is in the ascendant, then the native dies immediately.
पञ्चमे पापसंयुक्ते रन्ध्रेशे पापसंयुते ।
रन्ध्रे पापग्रहैर्युक्ते स्वल्पमायुः प्रजायते ॥१२॥

12. pañcame pāpasaṃyukte randhreśe pāpasaṃyute .

If the fifth house is conjoined with a malefic planet, the lord of the eighth house is conjoined with a malefic planet, and the eighth house is conjoined with malefic planets, then a very short lifespan is produced.
रन्ध्रेशे रन्ध्रराशिस्थे चन्द्रे पापसमन्विते ।
शुभदृष्टिविहीने च मासान्ते च मृतिर्भवेत् ॥१३॥

If the lord of the 8th house is situated in the 8th sign, and the Moon is conjoined with malefic planets and devoid of auspicious aspect, then death will occur at the end of the month.
लग्नेशे स्वोच्चराशिस्थे चन्द्रे लाभसमन्विते ।
रन्ध्रस्थानगते जीवे दीर्घमायुर्न संशयः ॥१४॥

If the lord of the ascendant is situated in its exaltation sign, and the Moon is associated with gains, and Jupiter is situated in the 8th house, then there is indeed long life, without a doubt.

धनैः सर्वगुणैः सार्धं दीर्घमायुः प्रयच्छति ॥१५॥

lagneśaḥ atibalī dr̥ṣṭaḥ kendrasaṃsthaiḥ śubhagrahaíḥ

15.
If the lord of the ascendant is exceedingly strong and aspected by auspicious planets situated in quadrant houses (kendras), it grants long life along with wealth and all virtues.
