अथाऽतः सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि राययोगान् द्विजोत्तम ।
येषां विज्ञानमात्रेण राजपूज्यो जनो भवेत् ॥१॥

Now, therefore, O best of the twice-born (dvijottama), I shall fully explain the royal combinations (rājayoga) by merely knowing which a person becomes revered by kings.
ये योगाः शम्भुना प्रोक्ताः पुरा शैलसुताग्रतः ।
तेषां सारमहं वक्ष्ये तवाग्रे द्विजनन्दन ॥२॥

O delight of the twice-born (dvijanandana), I shall now explain before you the essence of those planetary combinations (yoga) which were formerly declared by Shiva (Śambhu) in the presence of Pārvatī (Śailasutā).
चिन्तयेत् कारकांशे वा जनुर्लग्नेऽथ वा द्विज ।
राजयोगकरौ द्वौ द्वौ स्फुटौ खेटौ प्रयत्नतः ॥३॥

O twice-born (dvija), one should carefully consider two clear, distinct planets that cause royal combinations (rājayoga), either in the kārakāṃśa (planet in the navāṃśa of the ātmakāraka) or in the ascendant (lagna) of birth.
आत्मकारकपुत्राभ्यां योगमेकं प्रकल्पयेत् ।
तनुपञ्चमनाथाभ्यां तथैव द्विजसत्तम ॥४॥

O best among the twice-born (dvijasattama), one should envision one planetary combination (yoga) from the ātmakāraka and the planet signifying the fifth house (putra). Similarly, another such combination (yoga) should be envisioned from the lord of the ascendant (tanu) and the lord of the fifth house.
लग्नपुत्रेशयोरात्मपुत्रकारकयोर्द्वयोः ।
सम्बन्धात् पूर्णमर्धं वा पादं वीर्यानुसारतः ॥५॥

Due to the connection between the lords of the Ascendant (Lagna) and the fifth house, along with the significators (karakas) for the self (ātman) and progeny, a full, half, or quarter beneficial effect arises, depending on their strength.
लग्नेशे पञ्चमे भावे पञ्चमेशे च लग्ने ।
पुत्रात्मकारकौ विप्र लग्ने च पञ्चमे स्थित ॥६॥

O Brahmin, when the lord of the Ascendant is in the fifth house, and the lord of the fifth house is in the Ascendant, and similarly, the significators (karakas) for progeny and self (ātman) are situated in the Ascendant and the fifth house (respectively).
स्वोच्चे स्वंशे स्वभे वाऽपि शुभग्रहनिरीक्षितो ।
महाराजाख्ययोगोऽत्र जातः ख्यातः सुखान्वितः ॥७॥

7. svocce svaṃśe svabhe vā'pi śubhagrahanirīkṣito .

When (the planets involved in such a combination) are in their own exaltation sign, own Navamsha (divisional chart position), or own house, and are aspected by benefic planets, then this 'Mahārāja Yoga' (a planetary combination indicating a great ruler) is formed here, which is renowned and brings happiness.
भाग्येशः कारको लग्ने पञ्चमे सप्तमेऽपि वा ।

If the lord of the ninth house (Bhāgyeśa) and the significator (karaka) are situated in the Ascendant, the fifth house, or the seventh house, and if these two are conjoined or aspected by benefic planets, they bestow a royal (Rajayoga) status.
लग्नेशात् कारकाच्चापि धने तुर्ये च पञ्चमे ।
शुभखेटयुते भावे जातो राजा भवेद् ध्रुवम् ॥९॥

If benefic planets are situated in the second, fourth, and fifth houses from the position of the Ascendant lord and from the (general) significator (karaka), then the person born (with such a configuration) certainly becomes a king.
तृतीये षष्ठभे ताभ्यां पापग्रहयुतेक्षिते ।
जातो राजा भवेदेवं मिश्रे मिश्रफलं वदेत् ॥१०॥

10. tṛtīye ṣaṣṭhabhe tābhyāṃ pāpagrahayutekṣite .

If the third and sixth houses are conjoined with or aspected by malefic planets, the person born becomes a king. Similarly, if the conditions are mixed, one should declare a mixed outcome.
स्वांशे वा पञ्चमे शुक्रे जीवेन्दुयुतवीक्षिते ।
लग्ने लग्नपदे वाऽपि राजवर्गो भवेन्नरः ॥११॥

A person becomes of royal lineage if Venus, in its own division (aṃśa) or the fifth house, is conjoined with or aspected by Jupiter and the Moon. Alternatively, the same royal outcome occurs if the ascendant (lagna) or the ascendant-pada (lagna-pada) is similarly influenced.
जन्माङ्गे कालहोराङ्गे कालङ्गे येन केनचित् ।
एकग्रहेण सन्दृष्टे त्रितये राजभाग् जनः ॥१२॥

If the natal ascendant (janmāṅga), the "kālahorā" ascendant (kālahorāṅga), and the "kāla-lagna" (kālaṅga) - all three - are aspected by any one particular planet, then the person becomes a partaker of royal status.
लग्नषड्वर्गके चैवमेकखेटयुतेक्षिते ।
राजयोगो भवत्येव निर्विशंक द्विजोत्तम ॥१३॥

O best among the twice-born (dvija), a royal combination (rāja-yoga) certainly occurs without doubt if the ascendant (lagna) and the "ṣaḍvarga" (six divisional charts) are conjoined with or aspected by a single planet.
पूर्णदृष्टे पूर्नयोगमर्धदृष्टेऽर्धमेव च ।
पाददृष्टे पादयोगमिति ज्ञेयं क्रमात् फलम् ॥१४॥

One should understand the result progressively: a full aspect (dṛṣṭi) yields a full combination (yoga), a half aspect yields half (of the yoga), and a quarter aspect yields a quarter (of the yoga).
लग्नत्रये स्वभोच्चस्थे खेटे राजा भवेद् ध्रुवम् ।
यद्वा लग्ने दृकाणेंऽशे स्वोच्चखेटयुते द्विज ॥१५॥

O Brahmin (dvija), if a planet is in its own sign or exalted when situated in any of the three Lagna divisions (i.e., Lagna, Drekkaṇa, or Navāṃśa), a king will certainly be born. Alternatively, a king is born if the Lagna, Drekkaṇa, or Navāṃśa itself is conjoined with a planet that is situated in its own sign or exaltation sign.
पदे शुभ सचंद्रे च धने देवगुरौ तथा ।
स्वोच्चस्थखेटसन्दृष्टे राजयोगो न संशयः ॥१६॥

16. pade śubha sacaṃdre ca dhane devagurau tathā .

If benefics are present along with the Moon in the second house (pada), and similarly, Jupiter (devaguru) is in the house of wealth (dhana), and this combination is aspected by a planet situated in its own sign or exaltation sign, then it is undoubtedly a royal combination (rājayoga).
शुभे लग्ने शुभे त्वर्थे तृतीये पापखेचरे ।
चतुर्थे च शुभे प्राप्ते राजा वा तत्समोऽपि वा ॥१७॥

If the Lagna is benefic, and the second house (artha) is also benefic, with a malefic planet in the third house, and a benefic present in the fourth house, then one becomes a king or someone equal to a king.
स्वोच्चस्थो हरिणांको वा जीवो वा शुक्र एव वा ।
बुधो वा धनभावस्थः श्रियं दिशति देहिनः ॥१८॥

18. svoccastho hariṇāṃko vā jīvo vā śukra eva vā .
budho vā dhanabhāvasthaḥ śriyaṃ diśati dehinaḥ.

If the Moon (hariṇāṅka), Jupiter (jīva), Venus (śukra), or Mercury (budha) is exalted and located in the house of wealth (dhana bhāva), then it bestows prosperity upon the embodied being (dehin).
षष्ठेऽष्टमे तृतीये वा स्वस्वनीचगता ग्रहाः ।
लग्नं पश्येत् स्वभोच्चस्थो लग्नपो राज्ययोगदः ॥१९॥

If planets are situated in their respective debilitation signs in the sixth, eighth, or third houses, and the Lagna lord, being in its own sign or exalted, aspects the Lagna, then this combination bestows a royal yoga (rājyayoga).
षष्ठाऽष्टमव्ययाधीशा नीचस्था रिपुभेऽस्थगाः ।
स्वोच्चस्वभगलग्नेशो लग्नं पश्यंश्च राज्यदः ॥२०॥

20. ṣaṣṭhā'ṣṭamavyayādhīśā nīcasthā ripubhe'sthagāḥ .

20.
If the lords of the 6th, 8th, and 12th houses are debilitated or located in an enemy's sign, and the lord of the ascendant (lagneśa) is situated in its own exaltation sign or its own sign and aspects the ascendant, then this configuration bestows kingship.
स्वोच्चस्वभस्थराज्येशो लग्नं पश्यंश्च राज्यदः ।
शुभाः केन्द्रस्थिता वाऽपि राज्यदः नाऽत्र संशयः ॥२१॥

21.
If the lord of the 10th house (rājyeśa) is situated in its own exaltation sign or its own sign and aspects the ascendant, it grants sovereignty. Alternatively, if benefics are located in angular (kendra) houses, this also confers sovereignty; there is no doubt (saṃśaya) about it.
शुभराशौ शुभांशे च कारको धनवान् भवेत् ।
तदंशकेन्द्रेषु शुभे नूनं राजा प्रजायते ॥२२॥

If a significator (kāraka) is located in an auspicious sign and an auspicious divisional chart (aṃśa), the individual becomes wealthy. If a benefic (planet) is situated in the angular (kendra) houses of that divisional chart, a king is certainly born.
लग्नारूढं दारपदं मिथः केन्द्र स्थितं यदि ।
त्रिलाभे वा त्रिकोणे वा तदा राजा न संशयः ॥२३॥

23. lagnārūḍhaṃ dārapadaṃ mithaḥ kendra sthitaṃ yadi .
trilābhe vā trikoṇe vā tadā rājā na saṃśayaḥ.

If the "ārūḍha" of the ascendant (lagnārūḍha) and the "ārūḍha" of the 7th house (dārapada) are mutually situated in an angular (kendra) house, or in the 3rd and 11th houses, or in a trine (trikoṇa) house, then a king is certainly born; there is no doubt (saṃśaya) about it.
भावहोराघटीसंज्ञलग्नानि च प्रपश्यति ।
स्वोच्चग्र्हो राजयोगो लग्नद्वयमथापि वा ॥२४॥

If a planet exalted in its own sign aspects the Bhāva Lagna, Horā Lagna, and Ghaṭī Lagna, or even two of these ascendants, it constitutes a king-making combination (rājayoga).
राशेर्द्रेष्काणतोंऽशाच्च राशेरंशादथापि वा ।
यद्वा राशिदृकाणाभ्यां लग्नद्रष्टा तु योगदः ॥२५॥

A planet that aspects the ascendant (lagna), either from the sign's decanate (dreṣkāṇa), or from its navamśa, or furthermore from the sign itself, or from both the sign and the decanate combined, certainly grants a royal combination (rājayoga).

When the Pāda (a specific sensitive point in a chart) is occupied by its own exalted ruling planet, especially when occupied by the Moon, or if it is occupied by both Jupiter and Venus, or by any other exalted planet, (these conditions lead to a rājayoga).
दुष्टार्गलग्रहाभावे राजयोगो न संशयः ।
शुभारूढे तत्र चन्द्रे धने देवगुरौ तथा ॥२७॥

In the absence of planets causing malefic obstructions (duṣṭārgala), a royal combination (rājayoga) will undoubtedly manifest. Furthermore, if the Moon is in an auspicious āruḍha and Jupiter (devaguru) is in the second house (dhana), a royal combination (rājayoga) forms in that instance as well.
दुःस्थानेशोऽपि नीचस्थो यदि लग्नं प्रपश्यति ।

O best among the twice-born (dvija), know that even if the lord of an inauspicious house (duḥstha) is debilitated (nīcastha) and aspects the ascendant (lagna), then also a royal combination (rājayoga) will arise.

When the ascendant (vilagnabha) is aspected by the lord of the fourth, tenth, second (artha), or eleventh (aya) house; and also, when the eleventh house from the Pāda (lābha) is aspected by Venus, even if it is an auspicious Āruḍha sign, (these conditions indicate a royal combination).

If a debilitated planet is situated in the third or eleventh house, or similarly aspects the ascendant (lagna), and if a benefic planet is located in the angular houses (kendras) of the ascendant (lagna) or the navamśa ascendant, then the native becomes capable of both punishment and grace.

Now I will fully explain the excellent royal yogas and other combinations. These results arise from the planets' varying placements and the influence of their aspects and conjunctions.
तपःस्थानाधिपो मन्त्री मन्त्राधीशो विशेषतः ।
उभावन्योन्यसंदृष्टौ जातश्चेदिह राज्यभाक् ॥३३॥

If the lord of the house of spiritual practices (tapasthānādhipa, 9th house) and the lord of the house of counsel (mantrādhiśa, 5th house) - especially the minister - mutually aspect each other, then the native (jāta) in this life certainly attains kingship (rājyabhāk).
यत्र कुत्रापि संयुक्तौ तौ वापि समसप्तमौ ।
राजवंशभवो बालो राजा भवति निश्चितम् ॥३४॥

Wherever those two (lords mentioned in the previous verse) are conjoined, or even if they are situated in mutual seventh houses (aspecting each other), then a child born into a royal lineage certainly becomes a king.

बुद्धधर्माधिपाभ्यां तु दृष्टश्चेदिह राज्यभाक् ॥३५॥

If the lord of the fourth house is in the tenth house, and similarly, the lord of the tenth house is situated in the fourth house; and if these two are aspected by Mercury and the lord of the ninth house (dharma lord), then the native will certainly attain sovereignty in this life.
सुतकर्मसुहृल्लग्ननाथा धर्मपसंयुताः ।
यस्य जन्मनि भूपोऽसौ कीर्त्या ख्यातो दिगन्तरे ॥३६॥

If the lords of the fifth house (children/intellect), tenth house (karma/profession), third house (friends/siblings), and ascendant are conjoined with the lord of the ninth house (dharma lord) at one's birth, then that person will be a king, renowned with fame throughout the directions.
सुखकर्मादिपौ वापि मन्त्रिनाथेन संयुतौ ।
धर्मनाथेन वा युक्तौ जातश्चेदिह राज्यभाक् ॥३७॥

Alternatively, if the lords of the fourth house (happiness) and the tenth house (karma/profession) are conjoined with the lord of the fifth house (minister) or with the lord of the ninth house (dharma lord), then the native born in such a condition will certainly attain sovereignty in this life.

If the lord of the fifth house (children/intellect) is conjoined with the lord of the ninth house (dharma lord) or with the ascendant lord, or if the ascendant lord is situated in the ascendant (first house), fourth house (happiness), or tenth house (honor), then the native will become a king.

शुभा वेला तदुत्पन्नो राजा स्यात्तत्समोऽपि वा ॥४०॥

A period of two and a half nāḍikās (ghaṭikās) immediately following midday and midnight is considered auspicious. A person born during such a time will become a king or someone equivalent to a king.

मिथः पश्यति वा क्वापि राजयोग उदाहृतः ॥४१॥

If the Moon and Venus (kavi) are mutually in a third-house relationship (one is in the third from the other), and they mutually aspect each other, or (even if not in a third-house relationship) they simply aspect each other from any other position, this is declared a Rāja-yoga.

If the Moon is situated in a Vargottama Navāṃśa, is strong, and is aspected by four or more planets, then the person born (jāta) under such conditions certainly becomes a king.

Similarly, if the Ascendant (lagna) is situated in a Vargottama Navāṃśa (uttamāṃśa-gate), and is aspected by four or more planets, excluding the Moon, then such a person born (jāta) also becomes a ruler of the earth (bhūmipati).

If three or fewer planets are in exaltation, a king will be born into a royal family. If the person is born into another lineage, they will be equal to a king due to their wealth.
