Now, if two brothers or a father and son are born in the same lunar mansion (nakṣatra), and death is indicated for both of them, then the death of one is certain.

In that case, I will explain the propitiatory rite (śānti) as taught by sages beginning with Garga, which should be performed on an auspicious day, in a favorable lunar mansion (nakṣatra), and when the strength of the Moon and stars is present.

One should perform the propitiatory rite (śānti) at an appropriate time, avoiding Rikta (tithi) and Viṣṭi (karaṇa). In the north-eastern direction of (the representation of) Saturn, one should (place) an auspicious idol of the lunar mansion (nakṣatra)...
तन्नक्षत्रोक्तमन्त्रेण पूजयेत् कलशोपरि ।

One should worship (the idol) with the mantra (mantra) specified for that lunar mansion (nakṣatra), placing it above a pot. Having covered it completely with a red cloth, one should wrap it with a pair of clothes.
स्वस्वशाखोक्तमार्गेण कुर्यादग्निमुखं तथा ।

One should perform the fire ritual (agni mukham) according to the method prescribed in their own respective Vedic branch. Furthermore, oblations should be offered 108 times using that very mantra (mantra).

Each one should offer oblations with firewood sticks (samidh), food (anna), and ghee (ājya) until the expiatory rite (prāyaścitta) is completed. Thereafter, the preceptor (ācārya) should perform the ritual anointing for both individuals.

7.
One should give remuneration (dakṣiṇā) to the priests (ṛtvik), and especially to the preceptor (ācārya). Without any stinginess regarding wealth, one should feed Brahmins with devotion (bhakti).
