स्वोच्चे स्व्भे स्थितः सूर्यो लाभे केन्द्रे त्रिकोणके ।
स्वदशायां स्वभुक्तौ च धनधान्यादिलाभकृत् ॥१॥
1. svocce svbhe sthitaḥ sūryo lābhe kendre trikoṇake .

1. When the Sun is situated in its own exaltation sign, its own sign, in the house of gain (11th), a quadrant (kendra) house, or a trine (trikoṇa) house, then in its own planetary period (daśā) and sub-period (bhukti), it bestows gains of wealth, grains, and other benefits.
नीचाद्यशुभराशिस्थो विपरीतं फलं दिशेत् ।
द्वितीयद्यूननाथेऽर्के त्वपमृत्युभयं वदेत् ॥२॥
2. nīcādyaśubharāśistho viparītaṃ phalaṃ diśet .
dvitīyadyūnanāthe'rke tvapamṛtyubhayaṃ vadet.
2. nīca-ādi-aśubha-rāśi-sthaḥ viparītam phalam diśet
dvitīya-dyūna-nāthe arke tu apamṛtyu-bhayam vadet
2. If a planet is situated in its debilitated sign or an inauspicious sign, it will yield unfavorable results. Moreover, if the Sun is the lord of both the second and seventh houses, one should predict the fear of untimely death.
तद्दोषपरिहारार्थं मृत्युञ्जयजपं चरेत् ।
सूर्यप्रीतिकरीं शान्तिं कुर्यादारोग्यलब्धये ॥३॥
3. taddoṣaparihārārthaṃ mṛtyuñjayajapaṃ caret .
sūryaprītikarīṃ śāntiṃ kuryādārogyalabdhaye.
3. tat-doṣa-parihāra-artham mṛtyuñjaya-japam caret
sūrya-prīti-karīm śāntim kuryāt ārogya-labdhaye
3. For the purpose of averting that fault, one should perform the Mṛtyuñjaya recitation (japa). One should also perform a pacification ritual (śānti) that pleases the Sun, in order to attain good health.
सूर्यस्याऽन्तर्गते चन्द्रे लग्नात्केन्द्रत्रिकोणगे ।
विवाहं शुभकार्यं च धनधान्यसमृद्धिकृत् ॥४॥
4. sūryasyā'ntargate candre lagnātkendratrikoṇage .
vivāhaṃ śubhakāryaṃ ca dhanadhānyasamṛddhikṛt.

4. When the Moon, being within the Sun's orb, is situated in an angular or trine house from the ascendant, it brings about marriage, auspicious activities, and prosperity of wealth and grain.
गृहक्षेत्राभिवृद्धिं च पशुवाहनसम्पदाम् ।
तुङ्गे वा स्वर्क्षगे वाऽपि दारसौख्यं धनागमम् ॥५॥
5. gṛhakṣetrābhivṛddhiṃ ca paśuvāhanasampadām .
tuṅge vā svarkṣage vā'pi dārasaukhyaṃ dhanāgamam.
5. gṛha-kṣetra-abhivṛddhim ca paśu-vāhana-sampadām tuṅge
vā sva-ṛkṣa-ge vā api dāra-saukhyam dhana-āgamam
5. It also brings growth of houses and fields, and prosperity of cattle and conveyances. Or, when the Moon is in exaltation or situated in its own sign, it brings happiness from one's spouse and acquisition of wealth.
पुत्रलाभसुखं चैव सौख्यं राजसमागमम् ।
महाराजप्रसादेन इष्टसिद्धिसुखवाहम् ॥६॥
6. putralābhasukhaṃ caiva saukhyaṃ rājasamāgamam .
mahārājaprasādena iṣṭasiddhisukhavāham.
6. putra-lābha-sukham ca eva saukhyam rāja-samāgamam
mahārāja-prasādena iṣṭa-siddhi-sukha-vāham
6. It (the Moon in good position) also brings happiness from gaining children, general comfort, and association with rulers. Furthermore, by the grace of great rulers, it is a conveyer of happiness stemming from the fulfillment of desires.
क्षीणे वा पापसंयुक्ते दारपुत्रादिपोडनम् ।
वैषम्यं जनसंवादं भृत्यवर्गविनाशनम् ॥७॥
7. kṣīṇe vā pāpasaṃyukte dāraputrādipoḍanam .
vaiṣamyaṃ janasaṃvādaṃ bhṛtyavargavināśanam.
7. kṣīṇe vā pāpasaṃyukte dāraputrādipīḍanam |
vaiṣamyaṃ janasaṃvādaṃ bhṛtyavargavināśanam
7. If the (Moon) is debilitated or associated with malefic planets, there will be distress concerning one's wife and children, adversity, public disputes, and the destruction of one's servants.
विरोधं राजकलहं धनधान्यपशुक्षयम् ।
षष्ठाष्टमव्यये चन्द्रे जलभीतिं मनोरुजम् ॥८॥
8. virodhaṃ rājakalahaṃ dhanadhānyapaśukṣayam .
ṣaṣṭhāṣṭamavyaye candre jalabhītiṃ manorujam.

8. (There will be) opposition, conflicts with the government, and the loss of wealth, grain, and cattle. When the Moon is in the sixth, eighth, or twelfth house, there is fear of water and mental illness.
बन्धनं रोगपीडां च स्थानविच्युतिकारकम् ।
दुःस्थानं चापि चित्तेन दायादजनविग्रहम् ॥९॥
9. bandhanaṃ rogapīḍāṃ ca sthānavicyutikārakam .
duḥsthānaṃ cāpi cittena dāyādajanavigraham.
9. bandhanaṃ rogapīḍāṃ ca sthānavicyutikārakam |
duḥsthānaṃ ca api cittena dāyādajanavigraham
9. (There will be) imprisonment, affliction by disease, and causing displacement from one's position. Also, an inauspicious placement (of the Moon) can lead to mental distress and disputes with kinsmen.
निर्दिशेत् कुत्सितान्नं च चौरादिनृपपीडनम् ।
मूत्रकृच्छादिरोगश्च देहपीडा तथा भवेत् ॥१०॥
10. nirdiśet kutsitānnaṃ ca caurādinṛpapīḍanam .
mūtrakṛcchādirogaśca dehapīḍā tathā bhavet.
10. nirdiśet kutsitānnam ca caurādinṛpapīḍanam |
mūtrakṛcchādirogaḥ ca dehapīḍā tathā bhavet
10. One should predict contemptible food, and harassment from thieves, rulers, and the like. Similarly, diseases like dysuria and other urinary disorders, along with physical pain, will occur.
दायेशाल्लभभाग्ये च केन्द्रे वा शुभसंयुते ।
भोगभाग्यादिसन्तोषदारपुत्रादिवर्द्धनम् ॥११॥
11. dāyeśāllabhabhāgye ca kendre vā śubhasaṃyute .
bhogabhāgyādisantoṣadāraputrādivarddhanam.
11. dāyeśāt lābhabhāgye ca kendre vā śubhasaṃyute
| bhogabhāgyādisantoṣa dāraputrādivardhanam
11. When the lord of the (planetary) period (dāyeśa) is in a house of gain (lābha) or fortune (bhāgya), or in an angular house (kendra), or associated with benefic planets, there will be satisfaction from enjoyments, good fortune, and the like, along with the increase of wife and children.
राज्यप्राप्तिं महत्सौख्यं स्थानप्राप्तिं च शाश्वर्ताम् ।
विविआहं यज्ञदीक्षां च सुमाल्यामबरभूषणम् ॥१२॥
12. rājyaprāptiṃ mahatsaukhyaṃ sthānaprāptiṃ ca śāśvartām .
viviāhaṃ yajñadīkṣāṃ ca sumālyāmabarabhūṣaṇam.
12. rājya-prāptim mahat-saukhyam sthāna-prāptim ca śāśvartām
| viviāham yajña-dīkṣām ca su-mālyām ambara-bhūṣaṇam
12. rājya-prāptim,

ambara-bhūṣaṇam (labhate)
12. (One attains) the acquisition of a kingdom, great happiness, and the permanent attainment of a high position. Also, marriage, initiation into a Vedic ritual (yajña), fine garlands, and ornaments for clothing.
वाहनं पुत्रपौत्रादि लभते सुखवर्द्धनम् ।
दायेशाद्रिपुरन्ध्रस्थे व्यये वा बलवर्जिते ॥१३॥
13. vāhanaṃ putrapautrādi labhate sukhavarddhanam .
dāyeśādripurandhrasthe vyaye vā balavarjite.

13. One obtains vehicles, sons, grandsons, and other things that increase happiness. However, when the lord of the 6th house is situated in the 7th, 8th, or 12th house, and is devoid of strength...
अकाले भोजनं चैव देशाद्देशं गमिष्यति ।
द्वितीयद्यूननाथे च ह्यपमृत्युर्भविष्यति ।
श्वेतां गां महिषीं गद्याच्छान्ति कुर्यात्सुखाप्तये ॥१४॥
14. akāle bhojanaṃ caiva deśāddeśaṃ gamiṣyati .
dvitīyadyūnanāthe ca hyapamṛtyurbhaviṣyati .
śvetāṃ gāṃ mahiṣīṃ gadyācchānti kuryātsukhāptaye.
14. akāle bhojanam ca eva deśāt deśam
gamiṣyati dvitīyadyūnanāthe ca hi
apamṛtyuḥ bhaviṣyati śvetām gām
mahiṣīm dadyāt śāntim kuryāt sukhāptaye
14. One will eat at improper times and travel from one country to another. Furthermore, when the lord of the 2nd and 7th houses (is in an adverse state), there will be untimely death (apamṛtyu). One should offer a white cow and a buffalo, and perform remedial measures (śānti) for the attainment of happiness.
सूर्यस्यान्तर्गते भौमे स्वोच्चे स्वक्षेत्रलाभगे ।
लग्नात्केन्द्रत्रिकोणे वा शुभकार्यं समादिशेत् ॥१५॥
15. sūryasyāntargate bhaume svocce svakṣetralābhage .
lagnātkendratrikoṇe vā śubhakāryaṃ samādiśet.

lagnāt kendratrikoṇe vā śubhakāryam samādiśet
15. When Mars (bhauma) is in the sub-period (antar-daśā) of the Sun, and it is situated in its own sign of exaltation, or in its own sign, or in the house of gains (11th house), or in an angular (kendra) or trine (trikoṇa) house from the Ascendant, one should predict auspicious undertakings.
भूलाभं कृषिलाभं च धनधान्यविवर्धनम् ।
गृहक्षेत्रादि लाभं च रक्तवस्त्रादिलाभकृत् ॥१६॥
16. bhūlābhaṃ kṛṣilābhaṃ ca dhanadhānyavivardhanam .
gṛhakṣetrādi lābhaṃ ca raktavastrādilābhakṛt.
16. bhūlābham kṛṣilābham ca dhanadhānyavivardhanam
gṛhakṣetrādi lābham ca raktavastrādilābhakṛt
16. There will be gains of land, gains from agriculture, and an increase in wealth and grains. Also, gains of houses, fields, etc., and the acquisition of red garments and other similar items.
लग्नाधिपेन संयुक्ते सौख्यं राजप्रियं वदेत् ।
भाग्यलाभाधिपैर्युक्ते लाभश्चैव भविष्यति ॥१७॥
17. lagnādhipena saṃyukte saukhyaṃ rājapriyaṃ vadet .
bhāgyalābhādhipairyukte lābhaścaiva bhaviṣyati.

bhāgyalābhādhipaiḥ yukte lābhaḥ ca eva bhaviṣyati
17. If there is a conjunction with the lord of the ascendant, one should declare happiness and royal favor. If there is a conjunction with the lords of the houses of fortune (9th) and gains (11th), there will certainly be gains.
बहुसेनाधिपत्यं च शत्रुनाशं मनोदृढम् ।
आत्मबन्धुसुखम् चैव भ्रातृवर्द्धनकं तथा ॥१८॥
18. bahusenādhipatyaṃ ca śatrunāśaṃ manodṛḍham .
ātmabandhusukham caiva bhrātṛvarddhanakaṃ tathā.
18. bahusenādhipatyam ca śatrunāśam manodṛḍham
ātmabandhusukham ca eva bhrātṛvarddhanakam tathā
18. And also, chieftainship over many armies, destruction of enemies, and firmness of mind. Moreover, happiness for oneself and relatives, and the increase of siblings.
दायेशाद्व्ययरन्ध्रस्थे पापैर्युक्ते च वीक्षिते ।
आधिपत्यबलैर्हीने क्रूरबुद्धिं मनोरुजम् ॥१९॥
19. dāyeśādvyayarandhrasthe pāpairyukte ca vīkṣite .
ādhipatyabalairhīne krūrabuddhiṃ manorujam.
19. dāyeśāt vyayarandhrasthe pāpaiḥ yukte ca vīkṣite
ādhipatyabalaiḥ hīne krūrabuddhim manorujam
19. If the lord of the 10th house (dāyeśa) is situated in the 12th (expenditure) or 8th (obstacles) house, conjoined with or aspected by malefic planets, and devoid of strength from its rulership, then it indicates a cruel intellect and mental distress.
कारागृहे प्रवेशं च कथयेद् बन्धुनाशनम् ।
भ्राऋवगविरोधं च कर्मनाशमथापि वा ॥२०॥
20. kārāgṛhe praveśaṃ ca kathayed bandhunāśanam .
bhrāṛvagavirodhaṃ ca karmanāśamathāpi vā.
20. kārāgṛhe praveśam ca kathayet bandhunāśanam
bhrātṛvargavirodham ca karmanāśam atha api vā
20. One should also declare imprisonment, destruction of relatives, conflict with siblings, or even loss of one's profession (karma).
नीचे वा दुर्बले भौमे राजमूलाद्धनक्षयः ।
द्वितीयद्यूननाथे तु देहे जाड्यं मनोरुजम् ॥२१॥
21. nīce vā durbale bhaume rājamūlāddhanakṣayaḥ .
dvitīyadyūnanāthe tu dehe jāḍyaṃ manorujam.
21. nīce vā durbale bhaume rājamūlāt dhanakṣayaḥ
dvitīyadyūnanāthe tu dehe jāḍyam manorujam
21. If Mars (bhauma) is debilitated or weak, there will be a loss of wealth originating from the king or government. However, if the lord of the 2nd (wealth) and 7th (spouse/partnership) houses is (unfavorably placed), then physical dullness and mental distress will manifest.
सुब्रह्मजपदानं च वृषोत्सर्गं तथैव च ।
शान्तिं कुर्वीत विद्यिवदायुरारोग्यसिद्धिदाम् ॥२२॥
22. subrahmajapadānaṃ ca vṛṣotsargaṃ tathaiva ca .
śāntiṃ kurvīta vidyivadāyurārogyasiddhidām.

śāntim kurvīta vidhivat āyurārogyasiddhidām
22. One should perform a propitiation ritual (śānti) according to the prescribed method, which grants the attainment of longevity and good health. This ritual involves the proper recitation of sacred texts (brahman), offering donations, and also the release of a bull.
सूर्यस्यान्तर्गते राहौ लग्नात्केन्द्रत्रिकोणगे ।
आदौ द्विमासपर्यन्तं धननाशो महद्भयम् ॥२३॥
23. sūryasyāntargate rāhau lagnātkendratrikoṇage .
ādau dvimāsaparyantaṃ dhananāśo mahadbhayam.

ādau dvimāsaparyantam dhananāśaḥ mahat bhayam
23. When Rahu is conjoined with the Sun (literally, "within the Sun") and is positioned in an angular (kendra) or trinal (trikoṇa) house from the ascendant (lagna), there will be loss of wealth and great fear for an initial period of two months.
चौरादिव्रणभीतिश्च दारपुत्रादिपीडनम् ।
तत्परं सुखमाप्नोति शुभयुक्ते शुभांशके ॥२४॥
24. caurādivraṇabhītiśca dāraputrādipīḍanam .
tatparaṃ sukhamāpnoti śubhayukte śubhāṃśake.
24. caurādivraṇabhītiḥ ca dāraputrādipīḍanam
tatparam sukham āpnoti śubhayukte śubha-aṃśake
24. There will also be fear of wounds from thieves and the harassment of one's wife, children, and so on. Afterwards, if [Rahu is] conjoined with auspicious planets and is in an auspicious divisional chart (śubhāṃśaka), one will attain happiness.
देहारोग्यं मनस्तुष्टि राजप्रीतिकरं सुखम् ।
लग्नादुपचये राहौ योगकारकसंयुते ॥२५॥
25. dehārogyaṃ manastuṣṭi rājaprītikaraṃ sukham .
lagnādupacaye rāhau yogakārakasaṃyute.
25. dehārogyam manastuṣṭiḥ rājaprītikaram sukham
lagnāt upacaye rāhau yogakārakasaṃyute
25. One experiences bodily health, mental contentment, and happiness that brings royal favor, when Rahu is situated in an upacaya (growth-producing) house from the ascendant (lagna) and is conjoined with a yogakāraka (a planet indicating auspicious results).
दायेशाच्छुभराशिस्थे राजसन्मानमादिशेत् ।
भाग्यवृद्धिं यशोलाभं दारपुत्रादिपीडनम् ॥२६॥
26. dāyeśācchubharāśisthe rājasanmānamādiśet .
bhāgyavṛddhiṃ yaśolābhaṃ dāraputrādipīḍanam.
26. dāyeśāt śubharāśisthe rājasanmānam ādiśet
bhāgyavṛddhim yaśaslābham dāraputrādipīḍanam
26. When [Rahu is] situated in an auspicious sign from the lord of the daśā (planetary period), one should predict royal honor and an increase in fortune (bhāgya), along with gain of fame. However, there will also be harassment of one's wife, children, and so on.
पुत्रोत्सवादिसन्तोषं गृहे कल्याणशोभनं ।
दायेशादथ रिष्फस्थे रन्ध्रे वा बलवर्जिते ॥२७॥
27. putrotsavādisantoṣaṃ gṛhe kalyāṇaśobhanaṃ .
dāyeśādatha riṣphasthe randhre vā balavarjite.

dāyeśāt atha riṣphasthe randhre vā balavarjite
27. There is a lack of joy due to the birth of a son, etc., and a reduction in auspicious splendor in the home when the lord of the daśā is in the 12th house (riṣpha), or the 8th house (randhra), or is devoid of strength.
बन्धनं स्थाननाशश्च कारागृहनिवेशनम् ।
चौरादिव्रणभीतिश्च दारपुत्रादिवर्द्धनम् ॥२८॥
28. bandhanaṃ sthānanāśaśca kārāgṛhaniveśanam .
caurādivraṇabhītiśca dāraputrādivarddhanam.
28. bandhanam sthānanāśaḥ ca kārāgṛhaniveśanam
caurādivraṇabhītiḥ ca dāraputrādivarddhanam
28. Imprisonment, loss of position, entry into prison, fear of wounds from thieves etc., and an increase related to wife and children (which may signify increased burdens or difficulties) occur.
चतुष्पाज्जीवनाशश्च गृहक्षेत्रादिनाशनं ।
गुल्मक्षयादिरोगश्च ह्यतिसारादिपीडनं ॥२९॥
29. catuṣpājjīvanāśaśca gṛhakṣetrādināśanaṃ .
gulmakṣayādirogaśca hyatisārādipīḍanaṃ.
29. catuṣpajjīvanāśaḥ ca gṛhakṣetrādināśanam
gulmakṣayādirogaḥ ca hi atisārādipīḍanam
29. There is also loss of quadrupeds/livestock, destruction of house and fields, diseases like tumors (gulma) and consumption (kṣaya), and affliction by diarrhea (atisāra) and similar ailments.
द्विस्फस्थे तथा राहौ तत्स्थानाधिपसंयुते ।
अपमृत्युभयं चैव सर्पभीतिश्च सम्भवेत् ॥३०॥
30. dvisphasthe tathā rāhau tatsthānādhipasaṃyute .
apamṛtyubhayaṃ caiva sarpabhītiśca sambhavet.
30. dvisphasthe tathā rāhau tatsthānādhipasaṃyute
apamṛtyubhayam ca eva sarpabhītiḥ ca sambhavet
30. When Rāhu is in the second house (dvispha) and conjoined with the lord of that house, then fear of unnatural death and fear of snakes may certainly occur.
दुर्गाजपं च कुर्वीत् छागदानं समाचरेत् ।
कृष्णां गां महिषीं दद्यच्छान्तिमाप्नोत्यसंशयम् ॥३१॥
31. durgājapaṃ ca kurvīt chāgadānaṃ samācaret .
kṛṣṇāṃ gāṃ mahiṣīṃ dadyacchāntimāpnotyasaṃśayam.
31. durgājapam ca kurvīt chāgadānam samācaret kṛṣṇām
gām mahiṣīm dadyāt śāntim āpnoti asaṃśayam
31. One should perform the chanting (japa) of Durgā and offer a goat (dāna). One should also give a black cow and a buffalo, and undoubtedly, one will obtain peace (śānti).
सूर्यस्यान्तर्गते जीवे लग्नात्केन्द्रत्रिकोणगे ।
स्वोच्चे मित्रस्य वर्गस्थे विवाहं राजदर्शनम् ॥३२॥
32. sūryasyāntargate jīve lagnātkendratrikoṇage .
svocce mitrasya vargasthe vivāhaṃ rājadarśanam.
32. sūryasya antargate jīve lagnāt kendra-trikoṇage
svocce mitrasya vargas-sthe vivāham rāja-darśanam
32. When Jupiter (jīva) is within the Sun's influence, and is situated in an angular (kendra) or trinal (trikoṇa) house from the ascendant, in its own exaltation sign, and in a divisional chart (varga) of a friendly planet, then marriage and an audience with a ruler are indicated.
धनधान्यादिलाभ च पुत्रलाभं महत्सुखं ।
महाराजप्रसादेन इष्टकार्यार्थलाभकृत् ॥३३॥
33. dhanadhānyādilābha ca putralābhaṃ mahatsukhaṃ .
mahārājaprasādena iṣṭakāryārthalābhakṛt.
33. dhana-dhānya-ādi-lābha ca putra-lābham mahat sukham
mahārāja-prasādena iṣṭa-kārya-artha-lābha-kṛt
33. One gains wealth, grain, and other resources, as well as a son and great happiness. By the grace of a great ruler, one achieves the fulfillment of desired objectives.
ब्राह्मण्प्रियसन्मानं प्रियवस्त्रादिलाभकृत् ।
भाग्यकर्माधिपवशाद्राज्यलाभं वदेद् द्विज ॥३४॥
34. brāhmaṇpriyasanmānaṃ priyavastrādilābhakṛt .
bhāgyakarmādhipavaśādrājyalābhaṃ vaded dvija.
34. brāhmaṇ-priya-sanmānam priya-vastra-ādi-lābha-kṛt
bhāgya-karma-adhipa-vaśāt rājya-lābham vadet dvija
34. One receives honor and affection from Brahmins, and gains desired clothes and other items. O Brahmin (dvija), you should declare that a person will achieve a high position or a kingdom through the influence of the lords of fortune and action (karma).
नरवाहनयोगश्च स्थानाधिक्यं महत्सुखम् ।
दायेशाच्छुभराशिस्थे भाग्यवृद्धिः सुखावहा ॥३५॥
35. naravāhanayogaśca sthānādhikyaṃ mahatsukham .
dāyeśācchubharāśisthe bhāgyavṛddhiḥ sukhāvahā.
35. nara-vāhana-yogaḥ ca sthāna-ādhikyam mahat sukham
dāyeśāt śubha-rāśi-sthe bhāgya-vṛddhiḥ sukha-āvahā
35. One obtains the Naravāhana yoga (an astrological combination indicating being carried by humans, signifying high status), an increase in status, and great happiness. When the lord of the planetary period (daśā) is situated in an auspicious sign, there is an increase in fortune and it brings happiness.
दीनधर्मक्रियायुक्तो देवताराधनप्रियः ।
गुरुभक्तिर्मनःसिद्धिः पुण्युकर्मादिसंग्रहः ॥३६॥
36. dīnadharmakriyāyukto devatārādhanapriyaḥ .
gurubhaktirmanaḥsiddhiḥ puṇyukarmādisaṃgrahaḥ.
36. dīna-dharma-kriyā-yuktaḥ devatā-ārādhana-priyaḥ
guru-bhaktiḥ manaḥ-siddhiḥ puṇya-karma-ādi-saṅgrahaḥ
36. The person will be engaged in acts of compassion and righteous (dharma) conduct, and will be fond of worshipping deities. They will have devotion (bhakti) to their guru, mental accomplishments, and accumulate meritorious deeds (karma) and other virtues.
राशेशाद्रिपुरन्ध्रस्थे नीचे वा पापसंयुते ।
दारपुत्रादिपीडा च देहपीडा महद्भयम् ॥३७॥
37. rāśeśādripurandhrasthe nīce vā pāpasaṃyute .
dāraputrādipīḍā ca dehapīḍā mahadbhayam.

37. When the lord of a sign is located in the seventh or eighth house, or is debilitated, or conjoined with a malefic planet, there will be troubles concerning one's spouse and children, physical suffering, and great fear.
राजकोपं प्रकुरुतेऽभीष्टवस्तुविनाश्नम् ।
पापमूलद्द्रव्यनाशं देहभ्रष्टं मनोरुजम् ॥३८॥
38. rājakopaṃ prakurute'bhīṣṭavastuvināśnam .
pāpamūladdravyanāśaṃ dehabhraṣṭaṃ manorujam.

38. It causes the wrath of authorities, the destruction of desired possessions, the loss of wealth acquired through sinful means, physical deterioration, and mental illness.
स्वर्णदानं प्रकुर्वीत स्वेष्टजाप्यं च कारयेत् ।
गवां कपिलवर्णानां दानेनारोग्यमादिशेत् ॥३९॥
39. svarṇadānaṃ prakurvīta sveṣṭajāpyaṃ ca kārayet .
gavāṃ kapilavarṇānāṃ dānenārogyamādiśet.

gavām kapilavarṇānām dānena ārogyam ādiśet
39. One should perform the giving (dāna) of gold and have one's chosen recitation (jāpya) performed. By giving (dāna) tawny-colored cows, one can achieve good health.
सूर्यस्यान्तर्गते मन्दे लग्नात्केन्द्रत्रिकोणगे ।
शत्रुनाशो महत्सौख्यं स्वल्पधान्यार्थलाभकृत् ॥४०॥
40. sūryasyāntargate mande lagnātkendratrikoṇage .
śatrunāśo mahatsaukhyaṃ svalpadhānyārthalābhakṛt.

40. When Saturn (Manda) is combust by the Sun, and simultaneously positioned in a Kendra (angular) or Trikona (trine) house from the Ascendant (Lagna), there will be destruction of enemies, great happiness, and a moderate gain of grains and wealth.
विवाहादिसुकार्यञ्च गृहे तस्य शुभावहम् ।
स्वोच्चे स्वक्षेत्रगे मन्दे सुहृद्ग्रहसमन्विते ॥४१॥
41. vivāhādisukāryañca gṛhe tasya śubhāvaham .
svocce svakṣetrage mande suhṛdgrahasamanvite.

41. Auspicious ceremonies such as marriages are also beneficial for his home when Saturn (Manda) is in its own sign of exaltation or in its own sign, and conjoined with friendly planets.
गृहे कल्याणसम्पत्तिर्विवाहादिषु सत्क्रिया ।
राजसन्मानकीर्तिश्च नानावस्त्रधनागमम् ॥४२॥
42. gṛhe kalyāṇasampattirvivāhādiṣu satkriyā .

42. There will be auspicious prosperity (kalyāṇasampatti) in the home, good deeds and ceremonies like marriages, honor and fame from the government, and the acquisition of various clothes and wealth.
दायेशादथ रन्ध्रस्थे व्यये वा पापसंयुते ।
वातशूलमहाव्याधिज्वरातीसारपीडनम् ॥४३॥
43. dāyeśādatha randhrasthe vyaye vā pāpasaṃyute .
vātaśūlamahāvyādhijvarātīsārapīḍanam.
43. dāyeśāt atha randhrasthe vyaye vā pāpasaṃyute

43. When the lord of the planetary period (dāyeśa) is in the eighth house (randhra) or the twelfth house (vyaya), or is associated with malefic planets (pāpa), there will be affliction by rheumatic pain, severe illnesses, fever, and dysentery.
बन्धनं कार्यहानिश्च वित्तनाशो महद्भयम् ।
अकश्मात्कलहश्चैव दायादजनविग्रहः ॥४४॥
44. bandhanaṃ kāryahāniśca vittanāśo mahadbhayam .
akaśmātkalahaścaiva dāyādajanavigrahaḥ.

44. There will be imprisonment, loss of undertakings, destruction of wealth, great fear, sudden disputes, and quarrels with relatives.
भुक्त्यादौ मित्रहानिःस्यान्मध्ये किञ्चित्सुखावहम् ।
अन्ते क्लेशकरं चैव नीचे तेषां तथैव च ॥४५॥
45. bhuktyādau mitrahāniḥsyānmadhye kiñcitsukhāvaham .
ante kleśakaraṃ caiva nīce teṣāṃ tathaiva ca.
45. bhuktyādau mitrahāniḥ syāt madhye kiñcit sukhāvaham
ante kleśakaram ca eva nīce teṣām tathā eva ca
45. At the beginning of the sub-period (bhukti) there will be loss of friends, a little happiness in the middle, and at the end it will cause distress. Similarly, these effects occur when the planets (causing the bhukti) are debilitated.
पितृमातृवियोगश्च गमनागममं तथा ।
द्वितीयद्यूननाथे तु अपमृत्युभयं भवेत् ॥४६॥
46. pitṛmātṛviyogaśca gamanāgamamaṃ tathā .
dvitīyadyūnanāthe tu apamṛtyubhayaṃ bhavet.
46. pitṛmātṛviyogaḥ ca gamanāgamanam tathā

46. There will be separation from father and mother, as well as journeys. But if the lord of the second and seventh houses (dvitīyadyūnanātha) is involved, there will be fear of untimely death.
कृष्णां गां महिषीं दद्यान्मृत्युञ्जयजपं चरेत् ।
छागदानं प्रकुर्वीत सर्वसम्पत्प्रदायकम् ॥४७॥
47. kṛṣṇāṃ gāṃ mahiṣīṃ dadyānmṛtyuñjayajapaṃ caret .
chāgadānaṃ prakurvīta sarvasampatpradāyakam.

47. One should offer a black cow and a buffalo, and perform the recitation (japa) of the Mṛtyuñjaya mantra. One should also offer a goat, as this bestows all kinds of prosperity.
सूर्यास्यान्तर्गते सौम्ये स्वोच्चे वा स्वर्क्षगेऽपि वा ।
केन्द्रत्रिकोणलाभस्थे बुधे वर्गबलैर्युते ॥४८॥
48. sūryāsyāntargate saumye svocce vā svarkṣage'pi vā .
kendratrikoṇalābhasthe budhe vargabalairyute.
48. sūryāsyāntargate saumye sva-ucce vā sva-ṛkṣage api
vā kendratrikoṇalābhaste budhe vargabalaiḥ yute
48. When Mercury (budha) is within the sun's sign, or in its own sign of exaltation, or in its own sign, and is situated in a quadrant, a trine, or a house of gain, and is endowed with divisional strengths (vargabalas)...
राज्यलाभो महोत्साहो दारपुत्रादिसौख्यकृत् ।
महारजप्रसादेन वाहनाम्बरभूषणं ॥४९॥
49. rājyalābho mahotsāho dāraputrādisaukhyakṛt .
mahārajaprasādena vāhanāmbarabhūṣaṇaṃ.
49. rājyalābhaḥ mahotsāhaḥ dāraputrādisaukhyakṛt
mahārājaprasādena vāhanāmbarabhūṣaṇam
49. (Under these conditions) there will be acquisition of kingdom or high status, great enthusiasm, and happiness derived from one's wife, children, and so forth. Through the grace (prasādena) of a great king, one will obtain vehicles, garments, and ornaments.
पुण्यतीर्थफलावाप्तिर्गृहे गोधनसंकुलम् ।
भाग्यलाभाधिपैर्युक्ते लाभवृद्धिकोरो भवेत् ॥५०॥
50. puṇyatīrthaphalāvāptirgṛhe godhanasaṃkulam .
bhāgyalābhādhipairyukte lābhavṛddhikoro bhavet.
50. puṇyatīrthaphalāvāptiḥ gṛhe godhanasaṃkulam
bhāgyalābhādhipaiḥ yukte lābhavṛddhikaraḥ bhavet
50. There will be the attainment of merits (phala) from visiting sacred places (tīrthas), and one's home will be filled with cattle. When (Mercury or the relevant planet) is conjoined with the lords of the houses of fortune (bhāgya) and gain (lābha), there will be an increase in profits.
भाग्यपंचमकर्मस्थे सन्मानो भवति ध्रुवम् ।
सुकर्मधर्मबुद्धिश्च गुरुदेवद्विजार्जनम् ॥५१॥
51. bhāgyapaṃcamakarmasthe sanmāno bhavati dhruvam .
sukarmadharmabuddhiśca gurudevadvijārjanam.

51. When (the planet) is situated in the house of fortune (bhāgya - 9th), intellect/children (5th), or action (karma - 10th), then honor will certainly be attained. There will also be an intellect (buddhi) inclined towards good deeds and natural law (dharma), and one will gain from spiritual teachers (gurus), deities, and Brahmins (dvijas).
धनधान्यादिसंयुक्तो विवाहः पुत्रसम्भवः ।
दायेशाच्छुभराशिस्थे सौम्ययुक्ते महत्सुखम् ॥५२॥
52. dhanadhānyādisaṃyukto vivāhaḥ putrasambhavaḥ .
dāyeśācchubharāśisthe saumyayukte mahatsukham.
52. dhana-dhānya-ādi-saṃyuktaḥ vivāhaḥ putra-sambhavaḥ

52. When the lord of the planetary period (dāyeśa) is situated in an auspicious sign and associated with benefics, there is great happiness, along with an abundance of wealth and grains, marriage, and the birth of sons.
वैवाहिकं यज्ञकर्म दानधर्मजपादिकम् ।
स्वनामाङ्कितपद्यानि नामद्वयमथाऽपि वा ॥५३॥
53. vaivāhikaṃ yajñakarma dānadharmajapādikam .
svanāmāṅkitapadyāni nāmadvayamathā'pi vā.
53. vaivāhikam yajña-karma dāna-dharma-japa-ādikam
sva-nāma-aṅkita-padyāni nāma-dvayam atha api vā
53. There will be marital activities, ritual sacrifices (yajñakarma), acts of charity (dāna), religious duties (dharma), chanting, and similar observances. One may also compose poems marked with their own name, or even two names.
भोजनाम्बरभूषाप्तिरमरेशो भवेन्नरः ।
दायेशाद्रिपुरन्ध्रस्थे रिष्फगे नीचगेऽपि वा ॥५४॥
54. bhojanāmbarabhūṣāptiramareśo bhavennaraḥ .
dāyeśādripurandhrasthe riṣphage nīcage'pi vā.
54. bhojana-ambara-bhūṣā-āptiḥ amareśaḥ bhavet naraḥ
dāyeśāt ripu-randhra-sthe ṛṣpha-ge nīca-ge api vā
54. There will be the attainment of food, clothing, and ornaments, and the person will become a king or a lord of men. Conversely, when the lord of the planetary period (dāyeśa) is situated in the 6th house (ripu), 8th house (randhra), or 12th house (ṛṣpha), or even in a debilitated sign...
देहपीडा मनस्तापो दारपुत्रादिपीडनम् ।
भुक्त्यादौ दुःखमाप्नोति मध्ये किञ्चित्सुखावहम् ॥५५॥
55. dehapīḍā manastāpo dāraputrādipīḍanam .
bhuktyādau duḥkhamāpnoti madhye kiñcitsukhāvaham.
55. deha-pīḍā manas-tāpaḥ dāra-putra-ādi-pīḍanam
bhukti-ādau duḥkham āpnoti madhye kiñcit-sukha-āvaham
55. There will be physical pain, mental distress, and suffering related to one's wife, sons, and so on. In the beginning of the sub-period (bhukti), one experiences misery, while in the middle, it brings a little happiness.
अन्ते तु राजभीतिश्च गमनागमनं तथा ।
द्वितीये द्यूननाथे तु देहजाड्यं ज्वरादिकम् ॥५६॥
56. ante tu rājabhītiśca gamanāgamanaṃ tathā .
dvitīye dyūnanāthe tu dehajāḍyaṃ jvarādikam.
56. ante tu rāja-bhītiḥ ca gamana-āgamanam tathā
dvitīye dyūna-nāthe tu deha-jāḍyam jvara-ādikam
56. At the end (of the sub-period), however, there will be fear from the authorities and much travel. Moreover, when the lord of the 7th house (dyūna) is in the second house, there will be bodily inertia, fever, and similar ailments.
विष्णुनामसहस्रं च ह्यन्नदानं च कारयेत् ।
रजतप्रतिमादानं कुर्यादारोग्यसिद्धये ॥५७॥
57. viṣṇunāmasahasraṃ ca hyannadānaṃ ca kārayet .
rajatapratimādānaṃ kuryādārogyasiddhaye.
57. viṣṇunāmasahasram ca hi annadānam ca kārayet
| rajatapratimādānam kuryāt ārogyasiddhaye
57. One should perform the chanting of the one thousand names of Vishnu (Viṣṇunāmasahasra) and give food. One should also make a gift of a silver idol for the attainment of good health.
सूर्यस्यान्तर्गते केतौ देहपीडा मनोव्यथा ।
अर्थव्ययं राजकोपं स्वजनादेरुपद्रवम् ॥५८॥
58. sūryasyāntargate ketau dehapīḍā manovyathā .
arthavyayaṃ rājakopaṃ svajanāderupadravam.

58. When Ketu is within the Sun, there occurs bodily pain, mental distress, financial expenditure, royal displeasure, and trouble from relatives and so forth.
लग्नाधिपेन संयुक्ते आदौ सौख्यं धनागमम् ।
मध्ये तत्क्लेशमाप्नोति मृतवार्तागमं वदेत् ॥५९॥
59. lagnādhipena saṃyukte ādau saukhyaṃ dhanāgamam .
madhye tatkleśamāpnoti mṛtavārtāgamaṃ vadet.

59. When connected with the lord of the ascendant, at first there is happiness and an inflow of wealth. In the middle (period), one obtains distress, and one should predict the arrival of news of death.
अथाष्टमव्यये चैवं दायेशात्पापसंयुते ।
कपोलदन्तरोगश्च मूत्रकृर्च्छस्य सम्भवः ॥६०॥
60. athāṣṭamavyaye caivaṃ dāyeśātpāpasaṃyute .
kapoladantarogaśca mūtrakṛrcchasya sambhavaḥ.
60. atha aṣṭamavyaye ca evam dāyeśāt pāpasaṃyute |
kapoladantarogaḥ ca mūtrakṛcchrasya sambhavaḥ
60. Now, if (an astrological event occurs) in the eighth or twelfth house, and likewise, if there is a conjunction with a malefic (planet) through the influence of the dasha lord, then disease of the cheek and teeth, and the possibility of urinary difficulties occur.
स्थानविच्युतिरर्थस्य मित्रहानिः पितुर्मृतिः ।
विदेशगमनं चैव शत्रुपीडा महद्भयम् ॥६१॥
61. sthānavicyutirarthasya mitrahāniḥ piturmṛtiḥ .
videśagamanaṃ caiva śatrupīḍā mahadbhayam.
61. sthānavicyutiḥ arthasya mitrahāniḥ pituḥ mṛtiḥ

61. Loss of position, loss of wealth, loss of friends, the father's death, going abroad, and also affliction from enemies, and great fear (all occur).
लग्नादुपचये केतौ योगकारकसंयुते ।
शुभांशे शुभवर्गे च शुभकर्मफलोदयः ॥६२॥
62. lagnādupacaye ketau yogakārakasaṃyute .
śubhāṃśe śubhavarge ca śubhakarmaphalodayaḥ.

62. When Ketu is situated in an Upacaya house from the Ascendant, conjoined with a planet that forms a benefic yoga, and is placed in an auspicious divisional sign (aṃśa) and auspicious varga, there will be the manifestation of favorable results from one's actions (karma).
पुत्रदारादिसौख्यं च सन्तोषं प्रियवर्द्धनम् ।
विचित्रवस्त्रलाभश्च यशोवृद्धिः सुखावहा ॥६३॥
63. putradārādisaukhyaṃ ca santoṣaṃ priyavarddhanam .
vicitravastralābhaśca yaśovṛddhiḥ sukhāvahā.
63. putradārādisaukhyam ca santoṣam priyavardhanam
vicitravastralābhaḥ ca yaśovṛddhiḥ sukhāvahā
63. There will be happiness concerning sons, wife, and others, along with contentment and an increase in beloved ones. There will also be the acquisition of diverse garments, and a growth in fame that brings happiness.
द्वितीयाद्यूननाथे वा ह्यपमृत्युभयं वदेत् ।
दुर्गाजपं च कुर्वीत छागदानं सुखाप्तये ॥६४॥
64. dvitīyādyūnanāthe vā hyapamṛtyubhayaṃ vadet .
durgājapaṃ ca kurvīta chāgadānaṃ sukhāptaye.
64. dvitīyādyūnanāthe vā hi apamṛtyubhayam vadet
durgājapam ca kurvīta chāgadānam sukhāptaye
64. When the lord of the second house and the lord of the seventh house are [problematic, implied by context], one should declare fear of untimely death. To attain happiness, one should perform the chanting (japa) of Durga and offer a goat as a donation (dāna).
सूर्यस्यान्तर्गते शुक्रे त्रिकोणे केन्द्रगेऽपि वा ।
स्वोच्चे मित्रस्ववर्गस्थेऽभीष्टस्त्रीभोग्यसम्पदः ॥६५॥
65. sūryasyāntargate śukre trikoṇe kendrage'pi vā .
svocce mitrasvavargasthe'bhīṣṭastrībhogyasampadaḥ.

65. When Venus is in the sub-period of the Sun, and Venus is situated in a trine house or a Kendra (angular) house, or in its exaltation sign, or positioned in a friendly sign or its own varga, there will be desired women, enjoyable possessions, and wealth.
ग्रामान्तरप्रयाणं च भाह्मणप्रभुदर्शनम् ।
राज्यलाभो महोत्साहश्छत्रचामरवैभवम् ॥६६॥
66. grāmāntaraprayāṇaṃ ca bhāhmaṇaprabhudarśanam .
rājyalābho mahotsāhaśchatracāmaravaibhavam.

66. There will be journeys to other places, the sight of Brahmins and powerful figures (prabhu), the acquisition of dominion, great enthusiasm, and the splendor of royal insignias like the umbrella and fly-whisk.
गृहे कल्याणसम्पत्तिर्नित्यं मिष्ठान्नभोजनम् ।
विद्रुमादिरत्नलाभो मुक्तावस्त्रादि लाभकृत् ॥६७॥
67. gṛhe kalyāṇasampattirnityaṃ miṣṭhānnabhojanam .
vidrumādiratnalābho muktāvastrādi lābhakṛt.
67. gṛhe kalyāṇasampattiḥ nityam miṣṭānnābhojanam
vidrumādiratnalābhaḥ muktāvastrādi lābhakṛt
67. There will be prosperity and auspiciousness in the home, along with daily consumption of sweet food. One will gain coral and other gems, as well as pearls, clothes, and similar valuable items.
चतुष्पाज्जीवलाभः स्याद्बहुधान्यधनादिकम् ।
उत्साहः कीर्तिसम्पत्तिर्नरवाहनसम्पदः ॥६८॥
68. catuṣpājjīvalābhaḥ syādbahudhānyadhanādikam .
utsāhaḥ kīrtisampattirnaravāhanasampadaḥ.
68. catuṣpājīvalābhaḥ syāt bahudhānyadhanādikam
utsāhaḥ kīrtisampattiḥ naravāhanasampadaḥ
68. There will be gain of quadrupeds and an abundance of grains, wealth, and similar possessions. There will also be enthusiasm, acquisition of fame, and wealth in the form of human-borne conveyances.
षष्ठाष्टमव्यये शुक्रे दायेशाद्बलवर्जिते ।
राजकोपो मनःक्लेशः पुत्रस्त्रीधननाशनम् ॥६९॥
69. ṣaṣṭhāṣṭamavyaye śukre dāyeśādbalavarjite .
rājakopo manaḥkleśaḥ putrastrīdhananāśanam.

69. If Venus is situated in the sixth, eighth, or twelfth house and is devoid of strength from the lord of the ruling planetary period, there will be royal displeasure (rājakopaḥ), mental distress, and the destruction of sons, wife, and wealth.

70. In the beginning of the sub-period (bhukti), the results are mediocre; in the middle, there will be auspicious gains. At the end, however, there will be a loss of fame and possibly a loss of position.
बन्धुद्वेषं वदेद् वापि स्वकुलाद्भोगनाशनम् ।
भार्गवे द्यूननाथे तु देहे जाड्यं रुजोभयम् ॥७१॥
71. bandhudveṣaṃ vaded vāpi svakulādbhoganāśanam .
bhārgave dyūnanāthe tu dehe jāḍyaṃ rujobhayam.
71. bandhudveṣam vadet vā api svakulāt bhoganāśanam
bhārgave dyūnānāthe tu dehe jāḍyam rujaḥ bhayam
71. One may also predict animosity from relatives or the destruction of enjoyment within one's own family. However, if Venus (bhārgava) is the lord of the seventh house, there will be dullness in the body and fear of diseases.
रन्ध्ररिष्फसमायुक्ते ह्यपमृत्युर्भविष्यति ।
तद्दोषपरिहारार्थं मृत्युर्जयजपं चरेत् ॥७२॥
72. randhrariṣphasamāyukte hyapamṛtyurbhaviṣyati .
taddoṣaparihārārthaṃ mṛtyurjayajapaṃ caret.
72. randhrariṣphasamāyukte hi apamṛtyuḥ bhaviṣyati
tat doṣaparihārārtham mṛtyuñjayajapam caret
72. If connected with the eighth (randhra) and twelfth (riṣpha) houses, an untimely death will indeed occur. To remedy this defect, one should perform the chanting of the Mṛtyuñjaya (mantra).
श्वेतां गां महिषीं दद्याद्रुद्रजाप्यं च कारयेत् ।
ततः शान्तिभवाप्नोति शङ्करस्य प्रसादतः ॥७३॥
73. śvetāṃ gāṃ mahiṣīṃ dadyādrudrajāpyaṃ ca kārayet .
tataḥ śāntibhavāpnoti śaṅkarasya prasādataḥ.
73. śvetām gām mahiṣīm dadyāt rudrajāpyam ca kārayet
tataḥ śāntim avāpnoti śaṅkarasya prasādataḥ
73. One should offer a white cow and a she-buffalo, and also arrange for the chanting of the Rudra (mantra). Subsequently, one attains peace by the grace (prasāda) of Śaṅkara.
