एवं सहस्रमुत्तीर्णो योजनानां विमुच्यते ।
ततोऽन्यं पापशुद्ध्यर्थं तादृङ्निरयमृच्छति ॥८५॥

85. evaṃ sahasramuttīrṇo yojanānāṃ vimucyate .
tato'nyaṃ pāpaśuddhyarthaṃ tādṛṅnirayamṛcchati.

anyam pāpaśuddhyartham tādṛk nirayam ṛcchati

Having thus traversed a thousand yojanas, one is freed (from that specific hell). Then, for the purification of (his) sins, he reaches another similar hell.
