मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-10, verse-5

कथं न जीर्यते तत्र पिण्डीकृत इवाशये ।
स्त्रीकोष्ठे यत्र जीर्यन्ते भुक्तानि सुगुरूण्यपि ।
भक्ष्याणि यत्र नो जन्तुर्जोर्यते कथमल्पकः ॥५॥
5. kathaṃ na jīryate tatra piṇḍīkṛta ivāśaye .
strīkoṣṭhe yatra jīryante bhuktāni sugurūṇyapi .
bhakṣyāṇi yatra no janturjoryate kathamalpakaḥ.

5. How is it that the embryo, which is like a lump, does not decay in that receptacle (the womb)? In a woman's womb, even very heavy foods that have been consumed are digested. If all eaten items decay there, how is it that such a tiny living being does not decay?
