महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-28, verse-11

तत्सैन्यं भरतश्रेष्ठ मुहूर्तेन महात्मभिः ।
अवध्यत रणं प्राप्य त्रातारं नाभ्यविन्दत ।
प्रतिष्ठमानं तु भयान्नावतिष्ठत दंशितम् ॥११॥
11. tatsainyaṁ bharataśreṣṭha muhūrtena mahātmabhiḥ ,
avadhyata raṇaṁ prāpya trātāraṁ nābhyavindata ,
pratiṣṭhamānaṁ tu bhayānnāvatiṣṭhata daṁśitam.
11. tat sainyam bharataśreṣṭha muhūrtena
mahātmabhiḥ avadhyata raṇam prāpya
trātāram na abhyavindata pratiṣṭhamānam
tu bhayāt na avatiṣṭhata daṃśitam
11. bharataśreṣṭha,
tat daṃśitam sainyam raṇam prāpya mahātmabhiḥ muhūrtena avadhyata.
(tat sainyam) trātāram na abhyavindata.
tu bhayāt pratiṣṭhamānam na avatiṣṭhata
11. O best of the Bharatas, that army, having entered the battle, was slaughtered in an instant by the great-souled ones. It found no protector. And though armored, it could not stand firm due to fear, but instead retreated.
