महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-93, verse-87

यज्ञं त्वहमिमं श्रुत्वा कुरुराजस्य धीमतः ।
आशया परया प्राप्तो न चाहं काञ्चनीकृतः ॥८७॥
87. yajñaṁ tvahamimaṁ śrutvā kururājasya dhīmataḥ ,
āśayā parayā prāpto na cāhaṁ kāñcanīkṛtaḥ.
87. yajñam tu aham imam śrutvā kururājasya dhīmataḥ
āśayā parayā prāptaḥ na ca aham kāñcanīkṛtaḥ
87. But having heard of this Vedic ritual (yajña) by the wise king of the Kurus, I arrived with immense hope, yet I was not made golden.
