महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-93, verse-84

ततस्तु सक्तुगन्धेन क्लेदेन सलिलस्य च ।
दिव्यपुष्पावमर्दाच्च साधोर्दानलवैश्च तैः ।
विप्रस्य तपसा तस्य शिरो मे काञ्चनीकृतम् ॥८४॥
84. tatastu saktugandhena kledena salilasya ca ,
divyapuṣpāvamardācca sādhordānalavaiśca taiḥ ,
viprasya tapasā tasya śiro me kāñcanīkṛtam.

salilasya ca divyapuṣpāvamardāt ca
sādhoḥ dānalavaiḥ ca taiḥ viprasya
tapasā tasya śiraḥ me kāñcanīkṛtam
84. Indeed, my head was made golden by the fragrance of barley flour, by the moisture of water, by the crushed divine flowers, and by those small charitable offerings (dāna) of a righteous man, as well as by the spiritual discipline (tapas) of that brahmin.
