महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-93, verse-66

बुभुक्षां जयते यस्तु स स्वर्गं जयते ध्रुवम् ।
यदा दानरुचिर्भवति तदा धर्मो न सीदति ॥६६॥
66. bubhukṣāṁ jayate yastu sa svargaṁ jayate dhruvam ,
yadā dānarucirbhavati tadā dharmo na sīdati.
66. bubhukṣām jayate yaḥ tu saḥ svargam jayate dhruvam
yadā dānaruciḥ bhavati tadā dharmaḥ na sīdati
66. yaḥ tu bubhukṣām jayate,
saḥ svargam dhruvam jayate.
yadā dānaruciḥ bhavati,
tadā dharmaḥ na sīdati.
66. Indeed, whoever conquers hunger certainly conquers the heavenly realm. When an inclination for giving (dāna) arises, then natural law (dharma) does not falter.
