महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-93, verse-70

तत्तु पश्यन्ति पुरुषा जितक्रोधा जितेन्द्रियाः ।
ब्राह्मणास्तपसा युक्ता यथाशक्तिप्रदायिनः ॥७०॥
70. tattu paśyanti puruṣā jitakrodhā jitendriyāḥ ,
brāhmaṇāstapasā yuktā yathāśaktipradāyinaḥ.
70. tat tu paśyanti puruṣāḥ jita-krodhāḥ jita-indriyāḥ
brāhmaṇāḥ tapasā yuktāḥ yathā-śakti-pradāyinaḥ
70. However, that (the subtle gate and its obstruction) is perceived by persons (puruṣa) who have conquered anger and subdued their senses, as well as by Brahmins who are endowed with spiritual discipline (tapas) and who give according to their ability.
