शंतनुरुवाच ।
श्रुत्वा तव वरं दाश व्यवस्येयमहं न वा ।
दातव्यं चेत्प्रदास्यामि न त्वदेयं कथंचन ॥५०॥

50. śaṁtanuruvāca ,
śrutvā tava varaṁ dāśa vyavasyeyamahaṁ na vā ,
dātavyaṁ cetpradāsyāmi na tvadeyaṁ kathaṁcana.

50. śaṃtanuḥ uvāca śrutvā tava varam dāśa vyavasyeyam aham
na vā dātavyam cet pradāsyāmi na tu adeyam kathaṃcana

50. Shantanu said: O Dāśa, having heard your condition, I must consider whether I should agree or not. If it is something that can be granted, I will grant it, for it is certainly not something that should be refused.
