96. deśācārān samayān jñātidharmaṃ japaṃ hopaṃ maṅgalaṃ devateṣṭim .

Do not associate yourself with a man who performs local customs, observed conventions, the natural law (dharma) of kinsfolk, chanting (mantra), oblations, auspicious rites, worship of deities, proper purification according to rules, and follows public opinions.
