आत्मनः सदृशं कृत्वा प्रजापालो मनुं द्विज ॥१३॥

Then, O twice-born (dvija), the Lord, having created Manu, the first Svāyambhuva, who was born from the self of Brahma and was similar to His own self (ātman), designated him as the protector of creatures.
