मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-50, verse-18

यज्ञस्य दक्षिणायान्तु पुत्रा द्वादश जज्ञिरे ।
यामा इति समाख्याता देवाः स्वायम्भुवोऽन्तरे ॥१८॥
18. yajñasya dakṣiṇāyāntu putrā dvādaśa jajñire .
yāmā iti samākhyātā devāḥ svāyambhuvo'ntare.
18. yajñasya dakṣiṇāyām tu putrāḥ dvādaśa jajñire
yāmāḥ iti samākhyātāḥ devāḥ svāyambhuvaḥ antare
18. From (the wife) Dakṣiṇā, of (the husband) Yajña, indeed twelve sons were born. These gods, known as the Yāmas, appeared during the period of Svāyambhuva (Manu).
