महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-61, verse-74

ब्राह्मणेष्वृणभूतं स्यात्पार्थिवस्य पुरंदर ।
इतरेषां तु वर्णानां तारयेत्कृशदुर्बलान् ॥७४॥
74. brāhmaṇeṣvṛṇabhūtaṁ syātpārthivasya puraṁdara ,
itareṣāṁ tu varṇānāṁ tārayetkṛśadurbalān.

74. O Purandara, a king should consider it a debt to the brahmins. As for the other social classes (varṇas), he should protect those who are weak and vulnerable.
