And people indeed cross over this [dreadful realm] by wisdom (prajñā), O subduer of foes, a realm filled with the tortoises of ignorance (tamas) and the fish of passion (rajas), with the mud of attachment, the impassable obstacles of old age, and the islands of sense contact.
