मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-12, verse-31

वेदाभ्यासस्तपो ज्ञानं शौचमिन्द्रियनिग्रहः ।
धर्मक्रियाऽत्मचिन्ता च सात्त्विकं गुणलक्षणम ॥३१॥
31. vedābhyāsastapo jñānaṁ śaucamindriyanigrahaḥ ,
