महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-120, verse-73

ततो दुर्योधनो राजंस्तावकानभ्यभाषत ।
यत्ता रक्षत राधेयं नाहत्वा समरेऽर्जुनम् ।
निवर्तिष्यति राधेय इति मामुक्तवान्वृषः ॥७३॥
73. tato duryodhano rājaṁstāvakānabhyabhāṣata ,
yattā rakṣata rādheyaṁ nāhatvā samare'rjunam ,
nivartiṣyati rādheya iti māmuktavānvṛṣaḥ.
73. tataḥ duryodhanaḥ rājan tāvakān
abhyabhāṣata yatta rakṣata rādheyam
na hatvā samare arjunam nivartiṣyati
rādheyaḥ iti mām uktavān vṛṣaḥ
73. rājan tataḥ duryodhanaḥ tāvakān

73. O King, then Duryodhana addressed your warriors, saying: 'Protect Radheya (Karṇa) diligently! Karṇa (Vṛṣa/Radheya) himself told me that he will not return from battle without killing Arjuna.'
