महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-16, verse-8

ततस्तु शूराः समरे नरेन्द्रं मद्रेश्वरं प्राप्य युधां वरिष्ठम् ।
आवार्य चैनं समरे नृवीरा जघ्नुः शरैः पत्रिभिरुग्रवेगैः ॥८॥
8. tatastu śūrāḥ samare narendraṁ; madreśvaraṁ prāpya yudhāṁ variṣṭham ,
āvārya cainaṁ samare nṛvīrā; jaghnuḥ śaraiḥ patribhirugravegaiḥ.

8. Then, the brave warriors, these heroes among men, having confronted King Śalya, the lord of the Madras and the foremost among fighters, in battle, surrounded him there and struck him with fiercely-flying, feathered arrows.
