Then, swiftly, the lord of the Madra people (Śalya) struck Yudhiṣṭhira with seven (arrows) in the battle. O King (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), the great-souled (mahātmā) Pārtha (Arjuna) also struck him (Śalya) with nine feathered arrows in that tumultuous encounter.
