महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-70, verse-58

शेषो हि बलमासाद्य न शेषमवशेषयेत् ।
सर्वोच्छेदे च यतते वैरस्यान्तविधित्सया ॥५८॥
58. śeṣo hi balamāsādya na śeṣamavaśeṣayet ,
sarvocchede ca yatate vairasyāntavidhitsayā.
58. śeṣaḥ hi balam āsādya na śeṣam avaśeṣayet
sarvocchede ca yatate vairasya anta vidhitsayā
58. Indeed, a remnant (śeṣa), having gained strength, would not leave another remnant. And he (the remnant) endeavors for total annihilation, desiring to put an end to enmity.
