महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-70, verse-54

पराजयश्च मरणान्मन्ये नैव विशिष्यते ।
यस्य स्याद्विजयः कृष्ण तस्याप्यपचयो ध्रुवम् ॥५४॥
54. parājayaśca maraṇānmanye naiva viśiṣyate ,
yasya syādvijayaḥ kṛṣṇa tasyāpyapacayo dhruvam.
54. parājayaḥ ca maraṇāt manye na eva viśiṣyate yasya
syāt vijayaḥ Kṛṣṇa tasya api apacayaḥ dhruvam
54. I believe that defeat is certainly no different from death. O Krishna, even for him who achieves victory, decline is inevitable.
