महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-155, verse-84

गीतानां तलतालानां यथा साम्नां च निस्वनः ।
श्रूयते बहुधा भीम सर्वभूतमनोहरः ॥८४॥
84. gītānāṁ talatālānāṁ yathā sāmnāṁ ca nisvanaḥ ,
śrūyate bahudhā bhīma sarvabhūtamanoharaḥ.
84. gītānām taltālānām yathā sāmnām ca nisvanaḥ
śrūyate bahudhā bhīma sarvabhūtamanoharaḥ
84. O Bhīma, the captivating sound, delightful to the minds of all beings, from songs and rhythmic hand-claps (tālas) is heard in various ways, just like (the chanting of) Sāman (Vedic hymns).
