महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-155, verse-50

कदम्बैश्चक्रवाकैश्च कुररैर्जलकुक्कुटैः ।
कारण्डवैः प्लवैर्हंसैर्बकैर्मद्गुभिरेव च ।
एतैश्चान्यैश्च कीर्णानि समन्ताज्जलचारिभिः ॥५०॥
50. kadambaiścakravākaiśca kurarairjalakukkuṭaiḥ ,
kāraṇḍavaiḥ plavairhaṁsairbakairmadgubhireva ca ,
etaiścānyaiśca kīrṇāni samantājjalacāribhiḥ.

jalakukkuṭaiḥ kāraṇḍavaiḥ plavaiḥ haṃsaiḥ
bakaiḥ madgubhiḥ eva ca etaiḥ ca

50. And with kadamba birds, chakravāka ducks, ospreys, water hens, kāraṇḍava ducks, plava birds, swans, cranes, and cormorants indeed; with these and other water-dwelling creatures, the ponds were teeming all around.
