योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-81, verse-9

मिन्नाञ्जनतमःश्यामा यामिनोवाकृतिं गता ।
तमःश्रीर्देहयुक्तेव साकारेवाम्बरद्युतिः ॥ ९ ॥
minnāñjanatamaḥśyāmā yāminovākṛtiṃ gatā ,
tamaḥśrīrdehayukteva sākārevāmbaradyutiḥ 9
9. bhinnāñjanatamaḥśyāmā yāminī iva ākṛtiṃ gatā
tamaḥśrīḥ dehayuktā iva sa-ākārā iva ambaradyutiḥ
9. sā bhinnāñjanatamaḥśyāmā yāminī iva ākṛtiṃ gatā,
tamaḥśrīḥ dehayuktā iva sa-ākārā iva ambaradyutiḥ
9. She was dark like crushed collyrium or absolute darkness, having assumed the form of night. It was as if she were the very glory of darkness embodied, or the brilliance of the sky given tangible form.
