योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-54, verse-16

यावदित्थमवस्थैषा प्रणवस्यापरे क्रमे ।
बभूव न हठादेव हठयोगो हि दुःखदः ॥ १६ ॥
yāvaditthamavasthaiṣā praṇavasyāpare krame ,
babhūva na haṭhādeva haṭhayogo hi duḥkhadaḥ 16
16. yāvat ittham avasthā eṣā praṇavasya apare krame
babhūva na haṭhāt eva haṭhayogaḥ hi duḥkhadaḥ
16. yāvat eṣā avasthā ittham,
praṇavasya apare krame babhūva,
na haṭhāt eva; hi haṭhayogaḥ duḥkhadaḥ (asti).
16. While this state existed thus, in another sequence of the (praṇava) Om, it did not come about suddenly, for (haṭha yoga) is indeed painful.
