महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-198, verse-49

कर्मणा येन तेनेह पापाद्द्विजवरोत्तम ।
एवं श्रुतिरियं ब्रह्मन्धर्मेषु परिदृश्यते ॥४९॥

49. karmaṇā yena teneha pāpāddvijavarottama ,
evaṁ śrutiriyaṁ brahmandharmeṣu paridṛśyate.

49. karmaṇā yena tena iha pāpāt dvijavarottama
evam śrutiḥ iyam brahman dharmeṣu paridṛśyate

49. O best among the twice-born (dvija)! Whatever action (karma) is performed here, by that (appropriate) action one is freed from sin. Thus, O Brahmin, this Vedic injunction (śruti) is observed in the principles of natural law (dharma).
