केवलं दण्डरुचयो भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये ॥३३॥

In the decline of the age (yuga), those who are meant to protect will become greedy, filled with pride, ego (ahaṃkāra), and arrogance. They will delight solely in meting out punishment.
