When Mars (bhauma) is located in a sign owned by Saturn (manda), or is situated in a kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th house), labha (11th house), or trikoṇa (5th, 9th house) house, or is exalted, or is in its own sign, and is associated with the lord of the planetary period (daśādhipa).
