मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-16, verse-32

ततः सूर्योदयाभावादभवत् सन्तता निशा ।
बहून्यहः प्रमाणानि ततो देवा भयं ययुः ॥३२॥
32. tataḥ sūryodayābhāvādabhavat santatā niśā .
bahūnyahaḥ pramāṇāni tato devā bhayaṃ yayuḥ.

32. Consequently, due to the absence of sunrise, night became continuous for many days. Then, the gods became fearful.
