महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-34, verse-64

असौ हि चन्द्रमाः क्षीणः किंचिच्छेषो हि लक्ष्यते ।
क्षयाच्चैवास्य देवेश प्रजाश्चापि गताः क्षयम् ॥६४॥
64. asau hi candramāḥ kṣīṇaḥ kiṁciccheṣo hi lakṣyate ,
kṣayāccaivāsya deveśa prajāścāpi gatāḥ kṣayam.

64. Indeed, this moon (Soma) has wasted away; only a small part of him is now visible. And because of his decline, O Lord of gods (Dakṣa), creatures are also facing destruction.
