महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-112, verse-57

नोच्छ्रितं सहते कश्चित्प्रक्रिया वैरकारिका ।
शुचेरपि हि युक्तस्य दोष एव निपात्यते ॥५७॥

57. No one tolerates what is exalted, because the path to exaltation generates animosity. Indeed, even on a pure and virtuous person, a defect is imposed.
