aśubhabuddhayaḥ (te) mitrabuddhyā gomāyum sāntvayitvā ca praveśya ca doṣeṣu samatām netum aicchan.

With an appearance of friendship, those ill-intentioned (aśubhabuddhayaḥ) former servants, after consoling the jackal (gomāyum) and inviting him in, wished to bring him down to their level of faults.
