एवमस्त्विति तेनासौ मृगेन्द्रेणाभिपूजितः ।
प्राप्तवान्मतिसाचिव्यं गोमायुर्व्याघ्रयोनितः ॥३९॥

39. evamastviti tenāsau mṛgendreṇābhipūjitaḥ ,
prāptavānmatisācivyaṁ gomāyurvyāghrayonitaḥ.

39. "So be it," saying this, the jackal (gomāyuḥ), though from a tiger's lineage, was greatly honored by that king of beasts (mṛgendreṇa) and obtained the position of a wise minister.
