मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-3, verse-40

पितृ-देव-मनुष्याणां यान्युक्तानि ऋणानि वै ।
तान्यपाकुरुते पुत्रो न शरीरप्रदः सुतः ॥४०॥
40. pitṛ-deva-manuṣyāṇāṃ yānyuktāni ṛṇāni vai .
tānyapākurute putro na śarīrapradaḥ sutaḥ.
40. pitṛ-deva-manuṣyāṇām yāni uktāni ṛṇāni vai
tāni apākurute putraḥ na śarīrapradaḥ sutaḥ
40. Indeed, a son (putra) liquidates those debts (ṛṇa) to ancestors, gods, and humans which have been declared; a son (suta) who merely provides a physical body does not (do so).
