मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
अहन्यहनि विप्रेन्द्र स तेषां मुनिसत्तमः ।
चकाराहारपयसा तथा गुप्त्या च पोषणम् ॥१॥

Mārkaṇḍeya said: "O chief of Brahmins, that best among ascetics nourished them day by day with food, milk, and also with protection."
