महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-22, verse-53

दूरं न शक्यं तत्रासीद्गन्तुमश्वेन केनचित् ।
साश्वारोहैर्हतैरश्वैरावृते वसुधातले ॥५३॥
53. dūraṁ na śakyaṁ tatrāsīdgantumaśvena kenacit ,
sāśvārohairhatairaśvairāvṛte vasudhātale.

sāśvārohaiḥ hataiḥ aśvaiḥ āvṛte vasudhātale
53. tatra kenacit aśvena dūram gantum na śakyam āsīt
sāśvārohaiḥ hataiḥ aśvaiḥ vasudhātale āvṛte
53. It was not possible for any horse to go far there, because the surface of the earth was covered with dead horses, along with their riders.
