महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-90, verse-55

विचित्रवीर्यस्त्वनपत्य
एव विदेहत्वं प्राप्तः ॥५५॥
55. vicitravīryastvanapatya
eva videhatvaṁ prāptaḥ.
55. vicitravīryaḥ tu anapatyaḥ
eva videhatvam prāptaḥ
55. Vicitravīrya, however, remained childless and attained the state of being bodiless (i.e., died).
