श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
लीलयाऽपश्यति वपुः कालेनात्मनि जायते ।
रम्यस्यापश्यतो वक्रं हृदि दौरूप्यधीरिव ॥ १ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: As if by a playful act (līlā), (the supreme consciousness) does not perceive the physical body; yet, in time, it (the body) arises within the self (ātman). This is analogous to the perception of ugliness (daurūpyadhī) that arises in the heart (hṛdi) of one who has not directly seen a beautiful face.
