महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-92, verse-9

दृष्ट्वा हि क्षत्रियाञ्शूराञ्शयानान्धरणीतले ।
निन्दामि भृशमात्मानं धिगस्तु क्षत्रजीविकाम् ॥९॥
9. dṛṣṭvā hi kṣatriyāñśūrāñśayānāndharaṇītale ,
nindāmi bhṛśamātmānaṁ dhigastu kṣatrajīvikām.
9. dṛṣṭvā hi kṣatriyān śūrān śayānān dharaṇītale
nindāmi bhṛśam ātmānam dhik astu kṣatrajīvikām
9. hi kṣatriyān śūrān dharaṇītale śayānān dṛṣṭvā
bhṛśam ātmānam nindāmi kṣatrajīvikām dhik astu
9. Indeed, having seen brave warriors lying on the ground, I intensely blame myself (ātman). Shame upon the life of a warrior (kṣatra-jīvika)!
