महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-84, verse-80

पवित्राणां पवित्रं हि कनकं द्विजसत्तम ।
अग्नीषोमात्मकं चैव जातरूपमुदाहृतम् ॥८०॥
80. pavitrāṇāṁ pavitraṁ hi kanakaṁ dvijasattama ,
agnīṣomātmakaṁ caiva jātarūpamudāhṛtam.
80. pavitrāṇām pavitram hi kanakam dvijasattama
agnīṣomātmakam ca eva jātarūpam udāhṛtam
80. dvijasattama,
kanakam hi pavitrāṇām pavitram; ca eva jātarūpam agnīṣomātmakam udāhṛtam
80. O best among the twice-born (dvija)! Gold is indeed the purest of purifiers. And 'jātarūpa' (gold) is also declared to be of the nature of Agni and Soma.
