महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-84, verse-42

इत्युक्त्वा तं शमीगर्भे वह्निमालक्ष्य देवताः ।
तदेवायतनं चक्रुः पुण्यं सर्वक्रियास्वपि ॥४२॥
42. ityuktvā taṁ śamīgarbhe vahnimālakṣya devatāḥ ,
tadevāyatanaṁ cakruḥ puṇyaṁ sarvakriyāsvapi.
42. iti uktvā tam śamīgarbhe vahnim ālakṣya devatāḥ
tat eva āyatanam cakruḥ puṇyam sarvakriyāsu api
42. devatāḥ iti uktvā tam vahnim śamīgarbhe ālakṣya
tat eva puṇyam āyatanam sarvakriyāsu api cakruḥ
42. Having said this, the deities, observing fire within the hollow of the śamī tree, made that very spot a sacred dwelling, even for all rituals.
